Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the 500 Year House? It’s actually 500 years old – and I mean that in the best possible way. Walking into this place on Floriańska Street feels like stepping through a portal, but somehow they’ve managed to make medieval walls work with modern comfort in a way that doesn’t feel forced or gimmicky.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without dealing with the main square crowds every time you step outside. Floriańska is one of those streets that locals actually use – you’ll see people heading to work in the morning, not just tourists with selfie sticks. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the main market square, but far enough that you won’t hear the horse carriages clip-clopping past your window at dawn. The building sits right between St. Florian’s Gate and the square, so you get that authentic Old Town experience without the chaos. Plus, there’s this little courtyard entrance that feels like a secret – I walked past it twice before realizing it was the right place.

What really gets me about these apartments is how they’ve handled the historic elements. The exposed brick isn’t just for show – you can feel the weight of history in these walls, and the rooms have character that you just can’t fake in modern hotels. Each apartment feels different (I stayed in what I think used to be part of a merchant’s house), with these wonderful architectural quirks like arched doorways and uneven floors that tell stories. The Staymoovers team clearly knows what they’re doing – the check-in was smooth, they actually answered their phones when I had questions, and the WiFi worked perfectly even through those thick walls.

Honestly, the 9.8 rating makes total sense once you’re there. The kitchenettes are properly equipped, not just decorative, and the beds are genuinely comfortable. I mean, you’re not getting a huge space – this is Old Town Kraków, not suburban America – but everything feels thoughtfully designed. The bathrooms are modern without being jarring against the historic elements. One thing to note: if you’re bringing a lot of luggage, the stairs can be a bit of a workout, but that’s true for most buildings this old in the area.

The neighborhood comes alive differently throughout the day. Mornings are quiet except for the occasional delivery truck on the cobblestones, afternoons buzz with energy as people explore, and evenings have this lovely golden hour thing happening when the light hits the medieval buildings just right. You’re close enough to walk to Wawel Castle, the Jewish Quarter in Kazimierz is an easy stroll or tram ride, and there are actual grocery stores nearby – not just tourist shops. The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find in popular European cities.

Exploring Krakow offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Poland’s medieval heart, from its magnificent Wawel Castle to its bustling Market Square and timeless cultural traditions.

Reviews

  • Modern, clean, excellent value – Penny from New Zealand – August 14, 2025 (10/10)

Spotlessly clean, roomy in an excellent location, modern decor, excellent value for money.
We met our son, and three was a separate room for him

What could be improved: I liked everything about the apartment. The kitchen was well equipped too

  • Nice apartment and amazing location! – Keith from United States – August 14, 2025 (10/10)

    Nice apartment and amazing location!

  • Very pleasant. The apartment is well appointed with every need accounted for. – David from Ireland – August 13, 2025 (10/10)

Central location. Easy to find. Spacious apartment and spotlessly clean.

What could be improved: A small complaint. No window allowing natural light on ground floor of the apartment, which made the kitchen area dark. Natural light enters via windows on the mezzanine floor. Access to the apartment was on the 3 floor and no lift which wouldn’t suit people with mobility issues.

  • Exceptional – Bartosz from Poland – August 8, 2025 (10/10)

    Atmosphere, location

  • The location is fantastic to explore the old town, the restaurant below is really good. – Danny from New Zealand – July 31, 2025 (10/10)

Fantastic location, spacious apartment well appointed with a nice bathroom.

What could be improved: Takes a little getting used to not having any windows on the main level.

  • Fantastic stay, highly recommend this property! – Zosa from Netherlands – July 31, 2025 (9/10)

We loved this property! It was perfectly located in the old city. The apartment was beautifully decorated in a historical style and was very well equipped.

What could be improved: It felt a bit awkward walking through the restaurant to reach the stairs to the apartments, but the constant smell of Italian food made up for that!

  • A very nice apartment in a very nice part of Krakow just a few steps from St. Mary’s church. – Paul from United States – July 19, 2025 (10/10)

Great location. The room was very clean. The beds were large and comfortable. Nice kitchen. The washing machine came in very handy. Overall, it was great.

What could be improved: You do need to climb two long flights of steps. Not a problem for us, but it could be a problem for some people.

  • Ideal family apartment close to all the attractions – John from Ireland – July 7, 2025 (10/10)

It looks the exact same as the photos. Big and comfortable with air conditioning and a nice hot shower. The staff are friendly and the pasta restaurant downstairs is great too.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Wonderful piece of history – Jowita from United States – June 13, 2025 (10/10)

Perfect location, right in the center of everything, just steps away from main city square. Absolutely beautiful room where you witness history in every corner. Comfortable large beds, nice bedding and extra bonus tea and coffee. Great shower water pressure. We were nicely surprised by box of chocolates and bottle of wine waiting for us. Easy and prompt communication with the host. Since it is historic building there is no elevator but we were expecting that, just a couple of flights. Plus a nice restaurant with the patio right downstairs. It starts to wind down in
there around 9pm, so noise wasn't a problem. We absolutely loved staying there.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Wonderful stay, perfect location – Jelena from Denmark – June 10, 2025 (10/10)

We had a wonderful stay! The apartment is located right in the city center, which made it very convenient to explore everything on foot. It’s well-equipped with everything you might need — even umbrellas, which was such a thoughtful touch. Communication was smooth and easy throughout. Our host was very accommodating and kindly allowed us to have a late check-out. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily come back!
