Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Amber Design,” I was expecting another one of those try-hard boutique places that’s all style and no substance. But this place actually gets it right. The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this warm, honeyed lighting (clever nod to the name, I guess) that somehow makes everyone look better and feel more relaxed. It’s not massive or overwhelming – more like walking into a really well-designed friend’s apartment, if your friend happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget.

What really won me over was the attention to detail that you don’t notice until you’ve been there a day or two. The bathroom mirrors have this perfect lighting that doesn’t make you look like a zombie at 6 AM, and honestly, that’s rarer than it should be in hotels. The beds are that Goldilocks level of firm – not too soft that you sink in like quicksand, not so hard you feel like you’re camping. Plus, the rooms are actually quiet, which… you know what, I’m not taking that for granted anymore after some recent hotel disasters. The walls seem properly soundproofed, and even when I had neighbors with questionable evening entertainment choices, I barely heard a peep.

The staff here feels more like local concierges than typical hotel employees – they actually know the area beyond the standard tourist traps. When I asked about good coffee nearby, instead of pointing me toward the overpriced lobby café, the desk guy sent me to this little roastery two blocks over that locals actually use. That kind of insider knowledge makes a difference when you’re trying to experience a place rather than just survive it. The 8.7 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not perfect (the elevator’s a bit slow, and the breakfast could use more variety), but it hits all the important notes without any major fumbles. It’s the kind of place where you’d actually want to hang out in the lobby with a drink rather than immediately escaping to your room, and for a 4-star boutique hotel, that’s exactly what you want.

  Breakfast was a very good choice and they kindly did a take out for us when we had an early start. The location was excellent, the old town was just a five minute walk. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

  Staff were helpful and always happy to make tea or coffee for us . Breakfast was also very good scrambled eggs, salad cereal fresh fruit + quite a few other things. There was a box off toiletries at reception that you could help your self to . If you wanted your room clean you needed to put the tag on the door. Quite a small basic hotel but homely I would stay there again
  The hotel was just a short walk to the town square 5-7minuets .
