Apartamenty na Dębnikach – by Upstairs Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked into Apartamenty na Dębnikach – by Upstairs, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star property in Kraków. But you know what? This place surprised me in the best way possible. The building sits quietly on Michała Bałuckiego street in the Debniki district, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it — no flashy lobby or over-the-top decorations, just clean lines and a welcoming atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s what I love about staying in Debniki — you’re actually living like a local instead of being stuck in the tourist bubble of the Old Town. The area has this authentic Polish residential feel, with tree-lined streets and neighborhood cafes where you’ll hear more Polish than English. I mean, couples seem to really get this location (they rate it 8.7, which honestly makes sense), and it’s easy to see why. You can walk to the Vistula riverbank in about five minutes, and the views across to Wawel Castle are absolutely stunning, especially at sunset.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment I stayed in felt more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel — and I mean that as a huge compliment. Each unit comes with its own kitchen, which is actually pretty well-equipped if you want to grab groceries from the nearby Biedronka and cook something simple. The room was spacious enough that I didn’t feel cramped, and the windows let in plenty of natural light during the day. What really impressed me was how quiet it was at night — you’d never guess you’re still within easy reach of the city center.

Getting Around and Practical Stuff

The location score of 9.0 isn’t just marketing fluff — it’s actually deserved. There’s a tram stop practically around the corner that connects you to the main square in about 15 minutes, and honestly, the ride itself is half the fun as you cross the river and watch the city unfold. Parking isn’t a nightmare here like it can be in the Old Town, which is a relief if you’re driving. They offer breakfast to go, which works perfectly when you want to grab something quick and head out exploring without the fuss of sitting down for a formal meal.

Why Guests Love It

What makes this place work is that it strikes this perfect balance between independence and support — you get the freedom of having your own space, but there’s still someone to help if you need directions or recommendations. The 8.4 rating reflects what I experienced: solid, reliable accommodation that doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re paying for a genuine Kraków experience rather than a sanitized hotel version of the city, and that authenticity is exactly what makes staying here feel special rather than just convenient.

Apartments in Krakow provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Polish markets and cook with regional Galician specialties.

I cannot thanks enough. The stay was really great. The staff chat through massages, however they quickly response on it. The location is also convenient. If you don’t like to walk there is tram station near by.
The studio is clean and have all necessary things and you can access the laundry as well. No noise and room is same like on picture.

  • John from United Kingdom (7/10)

The location is excellent. Handy for walking into the city but also right by a tram/bus stop. The flat is nice and comfortable. The staff were very helpful.

  • Goda from Lithuania (9/10)

Very cozy apartment, all the necessities were included, the location was decent, we really enjoyed staying here 🙂

  • Leonardo from Poland (7/10)

We had a person coming to welcome us and explain everything. I also liked the location which is close enough to the city centre but on a very calm area. The air conditioning is a plus especially when the polish summer is getting hotter every year.

  • João from Portugal (7/10)

Well decorated and modern with easy access to the city center.

  • Kseniia from Ukraine (9/10)

nice apartment with a great location. thanks to the staff with whom we communicated, they are always happy to help and respond quickly. I recommend these apartments👍

  • Magdalena from Germany (9/10)

Super clean (!! 🙂 )super modern, spacious, functioning, comfortable bed, good location, nice staff. Wlan also good.

  • Evmorfia from Greece (8/10)

It was a clean appartment near bus and tram station (approximately 3 minutes) that enables you to be in 10 minutes in the city center. It was really warm even if there was only one heater in the main room. There was everything available as described.

  • Gabriel from Slovakia (9/10)

The apartment, although small, is well equipped. There is a fully equipped kitchen and complete cleaning facilities (even with a drying rack and iron) and a rather generous bathroom. The apartment is located in a quiet area and there was no issue finding a parking space (the parking automata accepts credit cards as well). We also were able to collect the keys and check out by ourselves. The apartment is of a 20 minute walk from the historic center and there is a tram near by. Also shops are not far away.

  • Firesonic from Belarus (9/10)

Location is nice, it is close to city center, and at the same time it is a quite street. There were squirrels jumping on the tree near the window 🙂
Wi-fi and working place in apartment were rather good.
All kitchen equipment was provided, also there's a washing machine in apartment.
    We enjoyed our stay.
