Apartamenty w Pałacu Pod Baranami Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Apartamenty w Pałacu Pod Baranami feels like stepping into a piece of Kraków’s living history. I mean, you’re literally staying in a palace right on the Main Market Square — and honestly, the location doesn’t get more central than this. The building itself has this old-world charm that immediately tells you you’re somewhere special, though it’s been thoughtfully updated for modern comfort. It’s a three-star property, but the setting makes it feel like something much grander.

The Heart of Old Town

You know what struck me most? You step outside and you’re already in the action — no walking, no trams, just pure medieval magic right at your doorstep. The Cloth Hall is literally across the square, and St. Mary’s Basilica is close enough that you’ll hear the hourly trumpet call from your window. I watched couples taking evening strolls around the square, and honestly, I can see why the location scores so high with romantic travelers. The cobblestones, the horse-drawn carriages, the street musicians — it’s all right there, and you get to retreat to your own little palace apartment when the crowds get too much.

Your Palace Apartment

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious for such a historic building. Each room has been carefully designed to blend period features with modern necessities — think exposed beams alongside updated bathrooms and reliable WiFi. The windows face either the bustling square (which is incredible for people-watching) or the quieter courtyard side if you prefer peace and quiet. I actually loved having a proper sitting area separate from the sleeping space, which isn’t something you always get in Kraków’s Old Town accommodations.

Morning Fuel

Breakfast here is more flexible than your typical hotel setup, which I really appreciated. They offer everything from continental basics to Italian-inspired options, plus solid vegetarian and vegan choices — something that’s not always easy to find in traditional Polish establishments. The breakfast-to-go option is brilliant if you want to grab something and explore the square early before the tour groups arrive. Trust me, experiencing Rynek Główny at sunrise with a coffee in hand is pretty magical.

Why Guests Love It

Look, you’re paying for the location here, and it absolutely delivers on that promise. Being able to stumble back to your place after dinner on the square, or watching the evening light hit the Cloth Hall from your window — these aren’t experiences you can get from hotels in the newer districts. The combination of authentic historical atmosphere with modern apartment-style comfort hits a sweet spot that works whether you’re here for romance, culture, or just soaking up one of Europe’s most beautiful medieval squares. It’s not the fanciest place in town, but when you’re staying in a palace on the Main Market Square, honestly, what more do you need?

The luxury concierge service in Krakow offers personalized access to private royal collections, traditional Polish dining, and VIP cultural experiences in this historic Polish jewel.

Reviews of Apartamenty w Pałacu Pod Baranami

  • Lowell from United States (9/10)

Almost everything. The stairs were a little much for two 70 year olds, but it helped us burn off the calories from all the pierogis, gelato, and chimney cakes.

  • Joseph from Germany (7/10)

    Location was superb.

  • Roger from United Kingdom (8/10)

The best part is the location, it couldn't be better – on the Main Market Square – so only a few steps from the door to the Christmas Market. The apartment was spotlessly clean, with a large bathroom and great kitchen facilities. There were only 2 of us, but we could have come comfortably as a family of 4 for a short break. Easy access with the code for the door messaged to at check-in time.
I would not hesitate to book this place again and visit Kracow – super city to visit.

  • Louise from United Kingdom (9/10)

Spacious and clean with a wonderful location

  • Gustav from Sweden (9/10)

Amazing location in a historic building right on the main square in the old town. The building has a small courtyard and a Starbucks on the ground floor. Our apartment had a pretty big bathroom with shower and separate bath tub. It was all clean and tidy. Shared kitchen was nice and clean and not heavily used.

  • Leslie from United States (8/10)

Location on there old Main Square; the size of bedroom and large bathroom with separate shower and soaking tub. Also on the ground level is a lovely wine bar and an old jazz club in the basement.

  • David from Canada (8/10)

Really cool apartment, very large size, super cool furnishings in the room, amazing windows, very clean, amazing kitchen across the hall, great old krakow feel, character building, generally quiet, extremely close to the main square and all the action. We really love the apartment
