You know what caught me off guard about Aparthotel Vanilla? The name had me expecting some sort of bland, cookie-cutter place, but honestly – this turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel a bit smug for discovering it. The 4-star rating doesn’t quite capture what you’re getting here, and that 9.1 guest score? Yeah, I get it now.

Walking into the lobby, there’s this understated elegance that feels more like a boutique property than your typical aparthotel chain. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day (which, let’s be real, doesn’t happen everywhere), and the whole check-in process was refreshingly smooth – none of that “your room isn’t ready yet” nonsense even though I showed up mid-afternoon. What really sold me on the place was the apartment setup itself. I mean, having a proper kitchenette changes everything when you’re staying somewhere for more than a couple nights. The appliances aren’t just for show either – I actually cooked breakfast a few times, and everything worked perfectly. The living space feels genuinely livable, not like those cramped hotel rooms where you’re tripping over your suitcase constantly.

The attention to detail is what sets Vanilla apart though. Little things like proper blackout curtains (thank god), USB charging ports exactly where you need them, and – this might sound silly but it mattered – really good water pressure in the shower. The beds are properly comfortable too, not just firm for the sake of being firm. I’m usually a light sleeper, but the soundproofing here is solid; you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway or traffic outside. The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work – everything stayed spotless without that over-the-top hotel smell of industrial cleaning products. What impressed me most was how they managed to maintain that apartment-like feel while still providing proper hotel services. You get the independence of having your own space, but room service is still an option when you can’t be bothered to cook, and there’s a concierge who actually knows the area well enough to give you recommendations beyond the usual tourist traps. The whole experience feels more personal somehow, like staying at a friend’s really nice place rather than just another hotel room. For the price point and that level of service, it’s honestly hard to find fault with much here – Aparthotel Vanilla delivers on pretty much everything it promises.

  Highly recommend, great location, easy to go to city center by train, train station is in front of the hotel, have elevators which was important for me, the staff is super nice and helpful, breakfast with rich variety of choice.

  Extremely clean, warm and with extras. There is super market, restaurant and Drogerie in the same building. Tram stop is 1 min walk. They also have parking.

  Large room, equipped with everything one could need for both short and longer stay, designed in good old style, with plenty of storage spaces. Very helpful staff. Good breakfast buffet. Free fast WiFi (however with issues).
