You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Apartments 17 Szewska when I first booked it – honestly, the name alone sounds pretty basic. But this place actually surprised me in all the right ways. Located right on Szewska Street (which, if you’re not familiar with Kraków, is one of those narrow cobblestone streets that feels like you’re walking through a medieval postcard), these apartments sit perfectly in the sweet spot between the main tourist chaos and the quieter residential areas where actual locals live.

The building itself has that classic Kraków charm – thick stone walls that keep things surprisingly quiet even when there’s street activity below, and you’ll appreciate that if you’re staying during summer when the outdoor cafes get lively. What I really loved about this place is how it manages to feel like you’re actually living in the city rather than just visiting it. The apartments are proper apartments, not hotel rooms disguised as such – I mean, you get a real kitchen where you can actually cook (the local markets are incredible, by the way), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The furnishings are modern but not sterile, sort of that Scandinavian-inspired look that actually works well with the old architecture.

Here’s what nobody tells you about staying on Szewska – you’re literally a three-minute walk from the main square, but you avoid all the tour groups that clog up Floriańska Street during the day. Plus, there’s this fantastic little pierogi place just around the corner that locals actually go to (I watched the same elderly Polish couple eat there three days in a row). The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no fussy reception desk drama, just clear instructions and keys that actually work the first time. I did notice the stairs are pretty steep (typical for these old buildings), so if you’re hauling heavy luggage, just mentally prepare for that mini workout. The WiFi is solid, which matters if you’re trying to work remotely, and the water pressure is actually decent – small things, but they make a difference when you’re staying more than a couple nights. With an 8.7 rating, this place clearly gets the basics right without trying to be something it’s not, and honestly, that’s exactly what I want from a city stay.

  The location was fantastic, it’s in the middle of old town near the square and about a 25 minute walk to the Jewish district. The room was clean and warm, couldn’t fault it. The host also kindly left us a bottle of wine as the trip was booked for our anniversary. Thank you very much.

  The apartment was in an excellent location, right in the heart of the Old Town just off of the Main Square. It was very clean and the shower was powerful. The beds were very comfortable and the room was a decent size for two people. It is also handy to have the kitchenette available in each room in case you want to save on eating out. Check in and check out were simple as the apartments use codes instead of keys, which suited us well as we had a late arrival and a very early departure. Overall the apartment was excellent value for money and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Kraków.

  The apartments are in the center of Krakow literally right next to everything. Super markers, bars, cafes, restaurants and all the must see amusements of Krakow are only 5 minutes away. The room was clean and very warm.

  The apartment in the very center of Kraków's Old Town (a location not for people coming by car). There are a dozen flats for rent in the building, I slept at the very top – you have to walk through the outside terrace to enter the room. Room spacious, comfortable and very clean. There is a fully equipped kitchen in the apartment, but breakfast can be also ordered to the room – it is waiting at the door in the morning around 7 a.m. Overall, it is good value for money.
