Look, I’ll be straight with you about AR Apartments – this place surprised me in the best way possible. When I first walked up to Bernardyńska 9, tucked right in the heart of Old Town, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard apartment building. But you know what? Sometimes the best stays are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you from the street.

The location is actually kind of perfect if you think about it. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Main Market Square – and I mean literally, not travel-website literally – but you’re on this quiet side street that most tourists never think to explore. I could hear the church bells from St. Mary’s in the morning, but none of the late-night party noise that hits some of the places right on the square. The apartments themselves feel more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, which I mean in the best way possible. Everything’s clean and well-maintained, the kind of 4-star setup where you actually want to hang out in your room. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too – not just for show – which honestly saved me a fortune since eating out in that area every meal would’ve killed my budget.

What really gets me about this place is how the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Kazimierz, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he told me about the walking route through Planty Park and mentioned which tram stops to avoid during rush hour. That’s the kind of local insight you don’t get at those big chain places. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there; it’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it’s supposed to. Check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually functioned properly (you’d be surprised how many places mess this up), and housekeeping didn’t wake me up at 7 AM like some places do. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the building has this old-world character that feels right for Kraków – thick walls, high ceilings, the kind of place that’s been around and has stories to tell. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re actually staying in the city rather than just visiting it, AR Apartments gets it right.

  Great spacious apartment in a great location, the Wawel Castle is outside your front door. How central is that?

  The property was very clean and equipped with everything you would need.
  
  What could be improved: We only have one minor negative and that is, the floor is a parquet and was very noisy, The owner explained due to the age of the building and it was the original floor that they were not allowed to replace it, we soon got use to it.
