Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Krakow, and Avanti Villa honestly surprised me in the best way. It sits on this quiet stretch of Beliny-Prażmowskiego – which yes, is a mouthful to pronounce, but the locals just call it “the villa street” anyway. The first thing that hit me walking up was how peaceful it felt, especially after dealing with the tourist chaos around the Main Square earlier that day.

The building itself has this understated elegance that actually works. I mean, it’s not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but there’s clearly thought put into the details – the lobby smells faintly of cedar and has these oversized windows that flood everything with natural light. My room was on the second floor (they have a proper lift, thank god), and honestly, the bed was one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed. The bathroom had heated floors, which might sound fancy, but trust me, in a Polish winter you’ll appreciate every warm surface you can get. What really got me though was the little balcony – nothing huge, but perfect for morning coffee while watching the neighborhood wake up.

Here’s what you need to know practically: parking is actually sorted here, which is huge because finding a spot in this part of Krakow can be a nightmare. The staff speaks proper English (not just hotel English), and when I asked about getting to Wawel Castle, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he walked me outside and showed me the exact tram stop, explained the ticket system, the whole thing. You’re about fifteen minutes from Old Town by tram, but honestly, the walk along the Vistula is pretty lovely if the weather’s decent. The area around the hotel has this residential vibe with a few local cafes that don’t feel touristy at all – there’s this bakery two blocks down that does incredible zapiekanka if you’re tired of restaurant food.

The only minor thing I’d mention is that the walls aren’t completely soundproof, so if you get unlucky with noisy neighbors, you’ll hear some of it. But in three nights, I only noticed it once, and even then it wasn’t terrible. What really sealed it for me was checkout day – they let me store my bags for hours without any fuss while I wandered around, and when I came back, they’d called me a taxi and had everything ready to go. It’s those small things that make you want to come back, you know? For a 4-star place, it punches above its weight, and that 9.5 rating honestly makes sense once you’ve been there.
