Best Western Plus Krakow Old Town Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Best Western Plus Krakow Old Town? It’s actually *in* the Old Town – like, properly in it. I mean, when you’re staying on Św. Gertrudy street, you’re literally a two-minute stumble from the main square, but somehow you’re tucked away from all the tourist chaos. That’s the kind of positioning that makes you feel slightly smug when you’re telling people where you stayed.
The building itself has this interesting thing going on where it’s clearly been updated (thank god, because some of these old places in Kraków can be… rustic), but they’ve kept enough of the original character that you don’t feel like you’re in some generic chain hotel. The rooms are honestly better than you’d expect from a 3-star – I mean, they’re not huge, but everything works properly, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the beds are actually comfortable. Small detail that matters: the windows are properly insulated, so you’re not dealing with street noise at night, which is huge when you’re this close to all the bars and restaurants.
Here’s what I really appreciated – the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Not in that rehearsed concierge way, but like they live here. When I asked about getting to Kazimierz (the Jewish quarter), the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward a tourist tram. He told me which streets to walk down, mentioned this little café halfway there where I could grab proper coffee, and warned me that Sundays get absolutely packed around the synagogues. That’s the kind of local insight you can’t get from booking sites. The breakfast situation is solid too – nothing fancy, but they’ve got local stuff mixed in with the usual European hotel spread, and honestly, after a night exploring Kraków’s legendary bar scene, you’ll be grateful for anything substantial. The location means you can walk to pretty much everything worth seeing – Wawel Castle is maybe ten minutes if you’re moving slowly, St. Mary’s Basilica is right there, and when you inevitably end up staying out too late in the Cloth Hall area, you’re not facing some expensive taxi ride back to a hotel outside the city center. I actually ended up coming back here during the day just to drop off shopping bags, which tells you something about how convenient it really is.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Krakow through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for experiencing the city’s medieval charm and cultural heritage.

Good location within a short walk of the main square and many restaurants. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
We had a top floor room looking over part of the park that runs round the old city. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and appeared to be recently decorated. It had all the facilities we needed for a short stay.
The bed was comfortable and we slept well.
There was a good choice of food at the buffet breakfast and we never had to queue. We ate a lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant and both were good with friendly and efficient service.
There were no rowdy or disruptive guests during our stay.
What could be improved: There was some noise from the street below, mainly from the trams, but not enough to be disruptive. We prefer to open windows for fresh air, but closed them and relied on air conditioning during the night. That worked well and we were never woken by noise.
There is a small bar, but with tall, and not very comfortable cafe style chairs. It would be nice to have a more comfortable area to relax with a drink after a long day of sightseeing, and maybe chat with other guests.Very Good – Kasia from United Kingdom – July 7, 2025 (8/10)
Good selection for breakfast
What could be improved: Tiny room, should be cheaperExceptional – Richard from United Kingdom – July 6, 2025 (10/10)
Location and car parking good, staff welcoming and friendly, breakfast good. Room excellent.
What could be improved: Stairs to upper floor and curtains difficult to close/openWonderful – Johanna from Finland – July 3, 2025 (9/10)
The location is just great. A short walk to the old town and to Kazimierz. We stayed four nights and everything was fine. Very clean room, the breakfast was good and the stuff in the reception was very helpful. The hotel has a car park you just have to make a reservation. We would gladly stay in the same hotel again.
What could be improved: Everything was fine.
