Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from Camera Apartments when I first walked up to the building on Starowiślna – I mean, it’s right in the thick of Old Town where you’d normally pay through the nose for a cramped hotel room. But you know what? This place actually gets it right. The location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the center of everything without staying in one of those touristy places that feel like they’re trying too hard.

What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, which is sort of miraculous considering you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Main Square. The apartments themselves have this lived-in feel – not fancy, but comfortable in that way where you can actually picture yourself hanging out there for more than just sleeping. The kitchenettes are small but functional (I made coffee every morning, which saved me from hunting down cafés before I was fully awake), and honestly, having that little bit of extra space makes such a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than a couple nights. The WiFi actually works well too, which – let’s be real – isn’t always a given in these older buildings.

Here’s the thing that locals probably already know but tourists don’t always realize: Starowiślna is one of those streets that connects you to everything without being a main drag where buses are constantly rumbling past. You can walk to Wawel Castle in about ten minutes, hit up Kazimierz for dinner (the Jewish quarter has some incredible restaurants), and you’re close enough to the Planty park that you can take those lovely evening walks around the old city walls. I actually bumped into the same joggers a few mornings in a row – apparently it’s a popular route for people who live in the area. The building itself has that classic Krakow charm without being precious about it, and while it’s definitely a 3-star place (don’t expect a concierge or anything), the 8.7 rating makes sense when you factor in the location and the fact that everything just… works. Check-in was straightforward, the woman at reception spoke great English and gave me actual useful tips about where to grab groceries nearby, and I never had any of those annoying issues you sometimes get with apartment rentals. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than in a tourist bubble, Camera Apartments hits that sweet spot.

  Cosy little studio for two people. Perfect location, very clean, quite quiet. If you don't have a problem with climbing the stairs (which we didn't), I would definitely recommend it.

  Small but cozy apartment just minutes away from the city center. It has all you need for your visit to Cracow, particularly if you are out exploring the city and need a good place to sleep. Apartment has two beds and bathroom, coffee machine etc free to use and shared with the adjacent apartment. Very clean and modern.
