You know what caught me off guard about City of the Kings? The name sounds grand and maybe a bit touristy, but honestly, this little place on Poselska feels more like staying at your well-traveled aunt’s apartment than some flashy hotel. And I mean that in the best possible way. The building itself has that old Krakow charm – you’re literally steps from the Main Square, but tucked away on this quieter street where you can actually hear yourself think (well, except when the church bells ring, but that’s part of the charm, right?).

The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple. Nothing fancy, but everything works and feels clean. The beds are actually comfortable – I slept better here than at some four-star places I’ve stayed. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep the historical character without making you feel like you’re roughing it. The WiFi’s solid, the shower has decent pressure, and there’s this nice attention to detail with local touches that feel genuine rather than forced. I stayed in October when Krakow gets that crisp autumn feel, and honestly, coming back to this cozy space after wandering around the Old Town all day felt perfect. The staff genuinely seems to care – not in that overly rehearsed hotel way, but like they actually want you to enjoy Krakow.

Here’s the thing about the location that the photos can’t really capture: you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from Floriańska Street that you won’t deal with the late-night party crowds stumbling around. It’s maybe a three-minute walk to the cloth hall, but you can also easily slip away down some of the smaller streets toward Kazimierz when you want to explore beyond the main tourist circuit. Parking’s tricky in this area (honestly, just take the train from the airport), but if you do have a car, they’ll point you toward some options nearby. The breakfast is simple but fresh – nothing elaborate, just good coffee and enough fuel to get you started exploring. For a three-star place with a 9.4 rating, I was skeptical it could live up to the hype, but it actually does. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which somehow makes it exactly what you want when you’re discovering a city like Krakow.

  • Wiesław responded and acted very promptly when I enquired about late checkout halfway through my stay. They were able to offer me later checkout which I'm very grateful for!
  
  What could be improved: Some minor things:
  
  • a couple of messages from me took a couple of days for them to get back to, but on the whole communication was very timely
  • there didn't seem to be any channels on the TV, or not very good reception for the one channel that was accessible
  • for night-time- the lighting on the ground floor staircase inside the building was not working
  • this was not the fault of the apartment company – the walls were a bit thin and on the final night I was woken up between 2-3am by the next door neighbours (I assume they are also renting a holiday apartment belonging to the same company because they had a lock box) who came crashing into our corridor shouting and laughing loudly. Once they entered their flat, I could still hearing them banging and shouting.
  
  This wouldn't deter me from staying again as this was a one-off, but it would be better if (assuming this flat belonged to the same company) there could be quiet hours.
