Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to City of the Kings – Riverside B22, honestly. The name sounds a bit grandiose, doesn’t it? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s got that perfect sweet spot thing going on – fancy enough that you feel a little special walking through the lobby, but not so uptight that you’re worried about tracking in dirt from exploring the city all day.
The riverside location is really something, and I mean that. You can actually hear the water from most of the rooms, which is way more relaxing than I thought it would be. Early mornings are incredible there – I kept waking up around sunrise just because the light coming off the water was so gorgeous. The staff seems to genuinely know their stuff too, not just the rehearsed tourist recommendations. When I asked about good local spots for dinner, the front desk guy told me about this family-run place three blocks over that doesn’t even have a proper sign, and it ended up being one of the best meals of my trip. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake.
What really sold me on this place though was the attention to details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The shower pressure is fantastic (seriously, after a long day of walking around, that matters more than fancy marble), the WiFi works everywhere including the lobby areas, and they’ve got this quiet policy after 10 PM that they actually enforce – no drunk tourists stumbling around the halls at 2 AM. The rooms are clean without being sterile, if that makes sense. They’ve got character but you’re not wondering when the carpet was last replaced. Parking is included, which saved me probably fifty bucks during my stay, and check-in was smooth even though I showed up way earlier than I was supposed to. The location puts you within walking distance of the main district, but you’re just far enough from the chaos that you can actually get some sleep. I’d definitely stay here again, and I’m pretty picky about hotels after some nightmare experiences over the years.
