The “colorful” part isn’t some gimmicky marketing thing – it’s more like thoughtful splashes of personality throughout spaces that actually feel like home. Each apartment has its own character (I stayed in one with these gorgeous deep blue accents and another time in a place with warm terracotta touches), and the Upstairs team clearly put real thought into making each space feel distinct rather than cookie-cutter identical.

What really won me over was how these apartments hit that sweet spot between having everything you need and not feeling sterile. The kitchens are actually functional – I mean, you can cook a proper meal here, not just reheat leftovers. There’s decent counter space, real cookware, and the fridges are big enough for more than just minibar snacks. The living areas have that lived-in comfort that’s so hard to fake, with sofas you’ll actually want to sink into after a day wandering around Kraków’s cobblestones (and trust me, your feet will thank you). I particularly loved the little touches – good lighting for reading, enough outlets in sensible places, and windows that actually open properly for fresh air. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to plan your next day or, let’s be real, upload those Wawel Castle photos.

Here’s the thing about staying in Kraków – the Old Town gets pretty intense with crowds, especially during summer, but these apartments give you space to decompress without feeling disconnected from everything. You’re still close enough to walk to the main square when you want that energy, but you can retreat to your own little haven when the tourist hustle gets overwhelming. The 9.5 rating honestly makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be luxury (it’s a 3-star property, after all), but it nails the fundamentals so well that you end up having a better experience than at fancier places that look great in photos but fall short on the details that matter. Check-in was smooth both times I stayed, and when I had a minor question about the heating, someone got back to me within an hour. That kind of responsiveness is pretty rare, especially from apartment-style accommodations.

  – super lokalizacja (ok. 1km do bulwarów wiślanych, ok. 2km do starówki – wszędzie dojdzie się spacerkiem);

  – bardzo dobry kontakt z wynajmującymi, miła obsługa, wszystkie instrukcje dotyczące wynajmu były jasne.
