Hotel Description
You know what really struck me about Cracovian House – LoftAffair? It’s that perfect sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s incredibly stylish apartment rather than just another hotel room. I mean, the address alone tells you something – Świętego Tomasza street puts you right in the thick of Old Town, but on one of those quieter cobblestone streets that locals actually use as shortcuts to avoid the tourist crowds on Floriańska.
The loft concept here actually works, and I’ve seen plenty of places that try this industrial-chic thing and fall flat. These guys get it right with the exposed brick and high ceilings that don’t feel cold or echo-y. Honestly, the first time I walked into my room, I immediately started mentally rearranging my own apartment back home because the space just flows so well. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show either – there’s a decent-sized fridge and proper cookware, which comes in handy when you want to grab fresh bread and cold cuts from the little shops around the corner instead of paying tourist prices every meal.
What I really appreciate is how they’ve managed to soundproof these old buildings pretty effectively. You’re literally a three-minute walk from the main square (and trust me, I timed it), but you’re not dealing with the late-night revelry that can make some Old Town stays… challenging. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too – when I asked about parking, they didn’t just point to some expensive garage but explained the whole system of finding street parking in the residential blocks just beyond the medieval walls. Small thing, but it saved me probably 30 euros over a long weekend.
The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not trying to be a grand luxury hotel – there’s no marble lobby or doorman in white gloves – but everything works exactly like it should. Hot water pressure is solid (you’d be surprised how many “charming” Old Town places struggle with this), the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every time someone uses the microwave, and the beds are actually comfortable for sleeping, not just Instagram photos. I did notice the elevator is one of those tiny European ones, so if you’re traveling with huge suitcases, just mentally prepare for some Tetris action.
The location really can’t be overstated though – you’re close enough to St. Mary’s Basilica that you’ll hear the hourly trumpet call (which is either charming or annoying depending on your jetlag situation), but far enough from Grodzka street that you’re not swimming through tour groups every time you want to grab coffee. There’s this little bakery maybe 50 meters away that opens ridiculously early, and the smell of fresh bread actually drifts up to the rooms on quiet mornings. That’s the kind of detail that makes a place memorable, you know?

Perfect location, close to everything. The house is bigger than it shows in the pictures, clean, tidy, and cosy. The washing machine was a plus.
What could be improved: The boiler temperature was set very low, and we didn't have hot water for our showers. But I managed to change the temperature on the boiler, and things were fine.12 out of 10! – Brusk from United Kingdom – January 23, 2025 (10/10)

Loved the space and comfort of this apartment in a wonderful location. Could not fault it in any way. There was so much room. It had a very nice, traditional feel with big windows and high ceilings. It oozed character and we felt at home.
What could be improved: Our flight was early and we couldn't get in until 3ish in the afternoon but that does not detract from the property itself..the staff happily stored our luggage until the apartment was readyWonderful, specious apartament – Aleksandra from United States – June 2, 2024 (10/10)

What could be improved: All was great!
