You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Dom pod Tujami when I first pulled up to Nowogródzka 19 – honestly, the name threw me off a bit (it means “House under the Thujas” if you’re wondering, and yes, there are actually these gorgeous evergreen trees framing the entrance). But this little 3-star gem in Łagiewniki completely changed my mind about what a hotel experience should feel like.

The thing is, most people think of Łagiewniki and immediately picture the Divine Mercy Sanctuary – which, fair enough, it’s literally a few minutes’ walk away. But what struck me about staying here was how genuinely peaceful the whole area feels, especially in the evenings when the pilgrimage crowds thin out. The hotel sits on this quiet stretch where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic, which is sort of miraculous when you’re still technically in Krakow. I mean, you’re maybe 15 minutes by tram to the Old Town, but it feels like a different world entirely. The staff – and I’m not just saying this – actually seem to care about what you’re doing in the city. The woman at reception (I think her name was Anna?) spent like ten minutes drawing me a little map showing not just how to get to the sanctuary, but also this bakery around the corner that apparently makes the best sernik in the district. She was right, by the way.

What really gets me about Dom pod Tujami is how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between comfortable and unpretentious. The rooms are clean and well-maintained without trying too hard to be fancy – you’ll find decent beds, reliable hot water, and windows that actually open (thank you!). Parking is included, which honestly saves you a headache if you’re driving in Poland, and the breakfast… well, it’s not going to win any awards, but it’s proper Polish fare with fresh bread and good coffee. The whole place just feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find – like someone’s family has been running it for years and they actually want you to enjoy your stay. With a 9.2 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks they’re doing something right here. If you’re planning to visit the sanctuary or just want a genuine base for exploring Krakow without the tourist circus, this place deserves serious consideration.

  The location is good, with an easy way to the city center of Cracow (via tram line 8) and Zakrzówek Park (ca. 30 min via walking).

  Service, host, breakfast and a house from a fairytale. We drove to Krakow in a day from Finland and our car broke, amazing and kind host did show car services and helped us with it, also he had his own taxi and he took us to old town and brought us back in the night, same time told stories of history of Krakow. Amazing and kind couple.
