Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to 2 Tenczyńska – it’s tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street that most tourists probably rush past on their way to the main square. But stepping into Elegant Apartment Luminis was like discovering someone’s incredibly stylish secret hideaway right in the heart of Old Town.

The thing about staying in Krakow’s historic center is that you’re usually dealing with ancient plumbing and paper-thin walls, but somehow this place manages to feel both authentically old-world and surprisingly modern. The apartment itself has these gorgeous high ceilings and original architectural details that remind you you’re sleeping in a building with serious history, but then you notice little touches like the perfectly calibrated lighting (hence the “Luminis” name, I’m guessing) and a kitchen that’s actually functional – not just some sad mini-fridge situation. I mean, the coffee machine alone probably cost more than most hotels spend on their entire breakfast setup. You know what really sold me though? The windows. They’re these massive things that flood the space with light during the day, and at night you can hear just enough of the Old Town’s evening bustle to feel connected to the city without being kept awake by drunk tourists stumbling back from Szewska Street.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like a local but still be walking distance from everything touristy. You’re literally a two-minute stroll from Planty Park – that green ring around the old city that locals use for their morning jogs – and maybe five minutes from Floriańska Gate if you want to dive into the tourist chaos of the main square. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: being on Tenczyńska means you’re close enough to Kazimierz (the old Jewish quarter) that you can easily walk there for dinner instead of fighting the crowds in the market square. Plus, there’s this little grocery store around the corner that stays open late, which saved me more than once when I needed wine or forgot to grab breakfast supplies. The building itself is quiet – I think because it’s mostly residential rather than packed with tour groups – and check-in was refreshingly simple. No standing in a lobby behind families with seventeen suitcases, just straightforward key exchange and genuine recommendations about where to eat. After staying in my share of “historic charm” places that turned out to be cramped and overpriced, finding somewhere that delivers on both style and substance (and earns that 9.4 rating honestly) felt like winning the accommodation lottery.

  • Fully recommendable! – Roksana from Spain – September 13, 2022 (9/10)

We had a great time at Luminis old town! There was enough space for all our things (loved the lighted wardrobe!), the bed was very comfortable and the textile jealousies kept the light away well for a good night rest. The shower was nice, with good pressure & freebies The area was quiet in spite of being very close to the city centre. We keep it as a favourite and we would definitely stay again!

What could be improved: Nothing major, an ice box in the fridge to make cubes would be handy & maybe a bigger sofa (it is a 2 seater).
