Friendhouse Apartments Avenue Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Friendhouse Apartments Avenue? The name makes it sound like some generic chain, but this place actually has character. It’s tucked right on Mazowiecka Street in Krowodrza – honestly, I’d never heard of this neighborhood before my first visit, but it turns out to be this perfect sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk into the Old Town but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos every morning.

The building itself feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a hotel, which I mean, is probably the point given the name. The rooms are spacious in that distinctly Eastern European way – high ceilings, solid walls, none of that paper-thin construction you get in newer places. What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re on a fairly busy street. The windows must be decent quality because I barely heard the trams rumbling by. Speaking of trams – there’s a stop practically outside your door, and honestly, that’s worth mentioning because Krakow’s public transport actually works really well once you figure it out. The apartment-style setup means you get a proper kitchenette, which comes in handy when you realize Polish breakfast portions are… substantial, let’s say, and you might want something lighter some mornings.

The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s solidly good without being flashy. Check-in was straightforward, though I’d recommend calling ahead if you’re arriving late because it’s not staffed 24/7 like the big chain hotels. The staff I dealt with knew their stuff about the area too, which you don’t always get. They pointed me toward this little bakery on Długa Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The whole Krowodrza district has this lived-in feel – you’ll see locals doing their grocery shopping, kids walking to school, that sort of thing. It’s refreshing after spending time in the more touristy parts of Krakow where everyone’s clutching guidebooks and taking photos of everything. From here, you can walk to Wawel Castle in about 15 minutes if you don’t mind a bit of uphill, or catch the tram and be in the main square in no time. Plus – and this matters if you’re traveling in summer – the tree-lined streets in this area provide actual shade, unlike some parts of the city center where you’re baking on cobblestones under the July sun.

Reviews of Friendhouse Apartments Avenue

  • Wonderful – Mark from Ireland – February 22, 2025 (9/10)

Bartlomiej Very kind and accommodating. The apartment had everything you needed. Good shower, comfy bed and so on. Also lots of shops nearby

What could be improved: Supplying shampoo and soap would be nice.

  • OK – Danielle from Brazil – January 5, 2025 (8/10)

    -Walking distance to the center
    -Spacious flat
    -Clean

What could be improved: -There was a very bad smell coming from the bathroom pipes
-We had to setup the tv by ourselves
-The Wifi didn't work well from the first bedroom
-The listing has different pictures from different flats, what confused us. When we arrived we had the feeling that we got the worst option from all the images..

  • Very Good – Bala from Poland – November 24, 2023 (8/10)

The apartment is just great, the ratio of the price and the apartment is great, everything was cleaned, everything was clean, you can see that the staff works conscientiously, I will definitely come again, I recommend it to everyone

What could be improved: 1, the only negative in my apartment is the heating, it was really cold in the apartment, the batteries are not working well, that is, it will be cold in the winter if the heating is not properly repaired

  • Family break in karkow. – Louise from United Kingdom – January 18, 2023 (9/10)

Close to main town 5-10 min walk.
    Spacious lots of cupboard space.

What could be improved: The staff was always on hand if u had any questions, apartment was warm and clean.

  • Great family apartment in Krakow. – Lee from United Kingdom – May 1, 2025 (7/10)

good location, just outside town but not too far and easily walkable.

What could be improved: original map in booking.com was wrong, i think its another property let by the same company, which caused a small confusion however directions to location emailed to me were correct so my fault for not re checking. location was still good though and closer to town than first thought.

  • Very Good – Belen from Netherlands – January 12, 2025 (8/10)

The apartment was clean, well located, well furnished. It had coffee and tea for free.

What could be improved: One of the bed was a sofa bed not so comfortable.

  • Wonderful – Karmen from Slovenia – July 24, 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: Just one towel per person for four days!, is not enaugh.

  • Wonderful – John from United Kingdom – February 17, 2023 (9/10)

    Lock box outside, very easy.

  • Great location, clean accomodation and reasonably priced. – Andrew from United Kingdom – October 29, 2022 (9/10)

Perfect 3 bedroom apartment for 3 couples. Never felt crowded and individual rooms were spacious. While the building is very dated it is set in the Old Town so don't expect something to modern. Wi-Fi worked worked perfectly for all of us and multiple phones. About 10-15 minutes walk from the main square with its many restaurants and attractions.

What could be improved: Could not get TV channels to change so stuck on menu. Would have been good to supply instruction on how to get hot water from the boiler. Found out how to but only after a few attempts.

  • Exceptional – Rendijs from Latvia – May 6, 2025 (10/10)

Great apartment with a perfect location. Clean and cozy.
