Hotel Description
You know what? I almost walked past the Grottger Luxury Boutique Hotel City the first time I was looking for it – and honestly, that’s part of its charm. It’s tucked away in this gorgeous historic building that doesn’t scream “hotel” from the street, which I actually love because it means you’re not dealing with tour groups clogging up the lobby.
The moment you step inside though, wow. They’ve done something really special with the restoration here. The original architectural details are still intact – I’m talking those impossibly high ceilings with intricate molding that makes you crane your neck up like a tourist (which, let’s be honest, you probably are). But they’ve layered in these modern touches that feel intentional, not like they’re trying too hard. The lighting is moody in the best way, and there’s this subtle scent throughout the common areas that I still can’t place – something woody and clean that makes you want to linger. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend arriving after 2 PM because I noticed they were still finishing up room prep when I got there around noon.
What really sets this place apart is how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between luxury and livability. The rooms aren’t massive – this is boutique, after all – but every inch feels considered. The beds are seriously comfortable (I mean, I travel a lot and I’m picky about this stuff), and the bathrooms have these gorgeous vintage-style fixtures that actually work properly. Little things matter here: the blackout curtains actually black out the room, the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and you’re not fighting with a dozen different light switches to figure out how to read in bed. I stayed on the third floor and it was blissfully quiet – no street noise, no slamming doors from inconsiderate neighbors. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there, which always makes a difference. They’re not hovering, but when you need something, they’re on it. I had a dinner reservation mix-up one evening and the front desk person made three calls to sort it out without me even asking.
The neighborhood itself is perfect if you want to feel like you’re actually experiencing the city rather than just passing through it. You’ve got proper local cafes within a two-minute walk, not just tourist traps, and the whole area has this lived-in energy that’s hard to find when you’re staying in the obvious hotel districts. Sure, you might pay a bit more than some of the chain options, but that 8.7 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen – you feel it in the details. This is the kind of place where you’ll actually want to hang out in your room instead of just using it as somewhere to crash between sightseeing.

This is one great little hotel located in a peaceful neighbourhood close to the city centre. Location is apsolutely priceless, you are 20 min of walking away from the main square, you can also take a tram, but we opted for walking, since the weather was fine and it was a pleasant walk through the streets of the amazing city of Krakow. Hotel is clean and cozy, it provides free private parking, it has a beautiful small terrace where you can take your morning coffee. Peaceful, pleasant, lots of trees, birds singing and chirping, quiet. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is pretty good. WiFi works well! Just great!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and kind—almost too kind! They went out of their way to accommodate us, even preparing lunchboxes for us since we had to leave early before breakfast started.
One morning, we accidentally came down to the breakfast area 30 minutes before the official start time. Instead of telling us we were too early, the staff member hurried to get everything ready for us. We almost felt sorry for him because he was so eager to help!
The room was also good, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was great as well—situated in a quiet area but still within walking distance of Krakow’s city center.
Overall, a fantastic experience, especially thanks to the incredibly kind staff.Romualdas from Lithuania (8/10)
