Happy Apartments Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of places in Krakow’s Old Town, and honestly? Happy Apartments on Starowiślna caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know that feeling when you’re expecting just another tourist crash pad, but then you walk into something that actually feels… well, happy? The name isn’t just marketing fluff – there’s something genuinely cheerful about this place that hits you the moment you step inside.
The location is what really sold me though. Starowiślna street is one of those gems that most tourists rush past on their way to the main square, but locals know it’s where the real character lives. You’re literally a three-minute walk from all the Old Town chaos – the cloth hall, St. Mary’s, the works – but when you duck into number 54, it’s like stepping into this pocket of calm. The building itself has that solid, old Krakow feel (you know, the kind with thick walls that actually keep the sound out), but inside it’s been updated without losing its soul. I mean, the apartments have modern kitchens and decent wifi – honestly better than some hotels I’ve paid twice as much for – but you still get those high ceilings and original details that remind you you’re sleeping in a piece of history.
What I really appreciated was how they’ve thought about the practical stuff. The check-in was smooth (no awkward key exchanges in random cafés like some places), and each apartment actually feels like a home rather than a sterile hotel room. The beds are proper comfortable – not those rock-hard European mattresses that leave you feeling like you’ve been hit by a tram. And here’s something you don’t always get in Old Town spots: the bathrooms are spacious and the water pressure doesn’t give up halfway through your shower. Small things, but when you’re dragging yourself back after a long day exploring Kazimierz or climbing up to Wawel Castle, these details matter. The whole area gets pretty lively during summer evenings (you’re close to some great bars and restaurants), but the windows actually keep most of the noise out – though honestly, the sounds of Old Town at night are part of the charm. If you’re planning to cook, there’s a Żabka just around the corner, and the bigger Carrefour on Starowiślna is maybe a five-minute walk. Plus, if you’re driving – which I don’t really recommend for Old Town – they can sort out parking, though walking everywhere is definitely the way to go from this spot.

Reviews of Happy Apartments
Very Good – Swarnakshi from Finland – August 10, 2025 (8/10)
The location is incredible. We literally went on foot from the apartment to everywhere in the city. The room is spacious, and I loved that they had a nespresso machine and pods. That made my day!
The staff was warm and very kind. We were also travelling with our cat, and she had a great stay here as well. This was probably the only hotel room where she was not stressed, and enjoyed looking at the traffic from the window.
I would definitely rebook this.
What could be improved: The reason I am giving an 8 and not a 10 is because of stained bed linen, a face towel that had more holes in it than fabric, and calcification inside water kettle.Wonderful – Dave from United Kingdom – July 11, 2025 (9/10)
Fantastic location, spotlessly clean, great value for money
What could be improved: NothingGreat apartment near Old town – Vall_88 from Bulgaria – June 23, 2025 (10/10)
Great location in a walking distance from the Old town of Krakow. Very clean and modern apartment with everything that you can need. There's a coffee machine in the room.
What could be improved: Everything was perfect.Exceptional – Kamilė from Lithuania – June 17, 2025 (10/10)
We had a lovely and cozy stay right in the heart of Krakow. The building has a grocery store, a pharmacy, and even a post office, which was super convenient. Just around the corner, there's a great spot for dinner – Hamsa, which we highly recommend!
But the real highlight? A very comfortable bed and blackout curtains that let us sleep like babies.
So, to sum up the stay: a happy wife, a happy husband, and a happy dog 😊Was advised there could be noise from the trams and whilst we could hear them it was not what I would call loud. Locatio – Sue from United Kingdom – May 15, 2025 (9/10)
Clean and spacious.
What could be improved: The 3 flights of stairs, but only as we both had bad knees, normally not a problem.A wonderful stay in a beautiful apartment with an ideal location! – Robertas from Lithuania – October 28, 2024 (9/10)
These stylish apartments in the heart of Krakow were a fantastic choice! The design was modern and chic, with excellent lighting that made the space feel warm and welcoming. The bed was extremely comfortable, and having a small balcony was a nice touch for a bit of fresh air. We also loved the Nespresso machine for easy coffee in the morning.
Great stay in a central location – Gemma from United Kingdom – October 21, 2024 (8/10)
Convenient location – central to everything historic in the city. Staff extremely helpful too.
What could be improved: Would have been helpful to be informed of the taxi prices from the train station to help know what I was meant to pay.An amazing place to stay while in Krakow. Our highest recommendation. – Thomas from Switzerland – October 20, 2024 (10/10)
Extremely pleasant and quick communication prior to arrival. Very accommodating polite host. Unbeatable location. Clean spacious room. I plan to go back to Krakow in the future and wouldn't even consider staying somewhere else. It was a wonderful experience.
What could be improved: There was absolutely nothing to dislike. We couldn't have been happier with the accommodation and communication.Great stay in Krakow – Dance from United Kingdom – October 15, 2024 (9/10)
The room was very spacious and clean. Great location, old town and jewish quarter both walkable.
Comfortable bed and good shower.
What could be improved: Although the room is on a high floor, the tram line is below so being a light sleeper was not ideal but earplugs were provided.
The air con was quite noisy but I am sure if we had highlighted this it would have been dealt with.Wonderful – Markus from Germany – October 15, 2024 (9/10)
Good location and they were very helpful.
