Honestly, when I first walked up to Harmo Old Town on Trynitarska Street, I wasn’t expecting much – the entrance is pretty understated, tucked between those typical Krakow townhouses. But then you get inside and immediately notice how they’ve managed to keep that old-world Polish charm while actually making everything work for modern travelers. The whole place just feels… well, thoughtfully put together, I guess.

What really sold me though was that terrace they mention in the name – and yeah, it actually lives up to the hype. I mean, you’re literally looking out over the old town rooftops, and in the morning when the sun hits just right, you can see all the way to the castle on the hill. I spent way too many evenings up there with a beer from the little shop around the corner on Slawkowska Street, just watching the city settle in for the night. You know what’s funny? The locals walking below have no idea there’s this perfect little viewing spot right above them. The terrace gets busy around sunset (obviously), but if you grab a spot earlier in the day, it’s surprisingly peaceful considering you’re smack in the middle of everything.

The rooms themselves are spacious by European standards – I could actually open my suitcase without rearranging all the furniture, which honestly doesn’t happen often in old town hotels. They’ve got this nice mix of exposed brick and updated bathrooms that somehow doesn’t feel forced or touristy. The beds are properly comfortable too, not those rock-hard European mattresses you sometimes get stuck with. One thing though – if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. It’s the old town, so there’s definitely some street noise, especially on weekends when the late-night crowd stumbles past heading back from the bars on Florianska. But that’s just part of staying in the heart of things, and it usually dies down after midnight.

Location-wise, you’re basically a three-minute walk to the main square, but far enough down Trynitarska that you’re not dealing with the constant tour groups and horse carriages. The little bakery two doors down opens ridiculously early and makes these amazing obwarzanki – way better than the ones the street vendors sell to tourists. Plus you’re right between the Cloth Hall and the Jewish Quarter, so you can easily do both without any planning or transport hassles. I actually walked everywhere from here, even out to Kazimierz for dinner, though your feet might disagree with that choice by day three.

The staff genuinely seems to care about the place – not in that overly rehearsed hotel way, but like they’re actually proud of showing off their city. They gave me restaurant recommendations that were clearly their personal favorites, not just the usual tourist traps. Check-in was smooth, they helped sort out some confusion with my airport transfer, and when the wifi got spotty one afternoon, they had it fixed within the hour. That 9.2 rating makes sense when you add up all these little details – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it just works really well for what it is.

Hotel in Krakow booking should be done early, especially during summer season when the city hosts internationally acclaimed cultural festivals and medieval celebrations.

  The apartment was beautifully furnished with everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment was absolutely spotless.
