But this three-star spot actually has some charm to it, and the 7.5 rating makes complete sense once you spend a night or two there.

The thing that really struck me was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between hostel vibes and actual comfort. I mean, sure, you’re not getting luxury here, but the common areas feel lived-in without being run-down, if that makes sense. There’s this great little lounge area where people actually hang out instead of just rushing through – I ended up chatting with a couple from Germany for like two hours over some surprisingly decent coffee. The rooms themselves are clean and honestly bigger than I expected, though the walls are pretty thin (fair warning if you’re a light sleeper like me). I could hear my neighbor’s phone alarm going off at 6 AM, but hey, that’s hostels for you.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area. When I asked about getting to the main attractions, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he walked me through which bus routes to avoid during rush hour and mentioned this little café around the corner that locals actually go to. Small stuff like that makes such a difference when you’re trying to get your bearings in a new place. The check-in was smooth too, none of that awkward waiting around while they figure out their computer system. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or anything, but Hostel Rest does exactly what it says on the tin – gives you a decent place to rest without breaking the bank. If you’re the type who spends most of your time exploring anyway and just needs somewhere clean and friendly to crash, this place definitely delivers on that front.

  The hostel was great value for money. Great friendly staff who greeted us at reception and gave us the rooms keys. The room was spacious enough for a few nights stay in winter and we didn't experience any temperature issues. The TV is quite small but useable for late night viewing and the bathroom was standard and clean. Overall, recommended for a shorter stay in Krakow.
