Hotel Description

So I’ve stayed at Hotel Kazimierz a handful of times now, and honestly? It punches way above its weight for a 3-star place. The location on Miodowa Street is just… well, you couldn’t ask for better if you’re one of those people who actually wants to *experience* Krakow rather than just tick boxes. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Main Square – I mean, you can hear the trumpet call from St. Mary’s Basilica if you open your windows, which is either charming or slightly annoying depending on how early you went to bed the night before.

The building itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciate. It’s not trying to be some flashy boutique hotel, but the rooms are surprisingly well-appointed for the price point. The beds are actually comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms are renovated – none of that communist-era tilework you sometimes get in older Krakow hotels. What really sold me though was the breakfast situation. They do this proper Polish spread with fresh bread from a local bakery, and the coffee… well, it’s not Italian-level, but it’s leagues better than the instant stuff you get at some places. The dining room overlooks a quiet courtyard, so you can ease into your morning without the chaos of tour groups marching past.

Here’s the thing about staying right in Old Town – you’re going to deal with some street noise, especially on weekends when the British stag parties roll through. But Hotel Kazimierz is tucked just far enough off the main drag that it’s manageable. Plus, you can walk to Wawel Castle in about eight minutes, and if you’re into the Jewish Quarter (which, let’s be honest, is where the best restaurants are), it’s an easy stroll across the river. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – ask them about dinner spots and they’ll send you to places locals go, not tourist traps. I remember the front desk guy steering me away from some overpriced pierogi place and toward this tiny spot near Plac Nowy that absolutely blew my mind. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to make the most of a short trip.

The breakfasts were very good. Excellent variety and choices.

What could be improved: If you have a car it is a little bit of a hassle, which is a trade off for being in such a central location.

  • Wonderful – Elizabeth from Ireland – June 5, 2025 (9/10)

Smiling welcoming courteous reception staff, our room was bright and fresh with kettle and tea/ coffee etc.The location is excellent and easily accessible on foot from the main train station .There is fresh water on each floor. The breakfast was excellent with extensive choice and good opening times. We slept well and heard no noise etc. I would be more than happy to return in the future.

What could be improved: The only thing was that after taking the lift we had to walk up two lots of stairs to our room. This was not a difficulty for us but I had booked a hotel with a lift so we would not have stairs. The lighting on the landing coming back down was not as bright as I would like. Probably fine for others. The receptionist kindly offered to carry our cases but we declined. So just something to be aware of and mention on booking if you have a difficulty with stairs.

  • Exceptional – Beata from United Kingdom – May 30, 2025 (10/10)

The hotel situation is about 15 minutes walk from Castle and square Sukiennice. Next to the holiday next door is a fantastic restaurant with polish food and also a Polish pub. Breakfast in the hotel is sooo good, definitely to have in the morning, staff are so helpful and friendly.

What could be improved: Only we didn't spend more days in Krakow
