Hotel Maltański Overview

You know what? Hotel Maltański caught me completely off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. Walking up to this place, you might think “okay, standard three-star situation,” but honestly, it’s one of those hotels that punches way above its weight class. The 8.4 rating isn’t just some inflated number; people genuinely seem to love staying here, and after spending a few nights, I totally get why.

The thing about Maltański is that it feels like someone actually thought about what travelers need, not just what looks good in photos. The lobby has this lived-in warmth – not fancy, but comfortable in that way where you immediately stop worrying about whether your shoes are clean enough. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward (no upselling, no complicated key card explanations), and the staff had that rare quality of being helpful without hovering. My room was on the quieter side of the building, which I appreciated since I’m one of those light sleepers who notices every door slam in the hallway. The beds are actually decent – firm enough that you’re not sinking into a crater, but soft enough that you’re not sleeping on a board. I’ve stayed in four-star places with worse mattresses, honestly.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to small details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The shower pressure was solid (seriously, why is this so rare?), there were enough outlets near the bed for my phone and laptop, and the WiFi didn’t drop out every twenty minutes. The breakfast setup isn’t huge, but it’s fresh and changes just enough day to day that you’re not eating the exact same thing all week. I particularly loved their coffee – not that watery hotel stuff, but actually drinkable coffee that didn’t require three sugars to be palatable. The whole place has this understated efficiency that I found really appealing, especially after staying at some overly designed hotels where you can’t figure out how to turn on the lights. Sure, the carpets aren’t brand new and the furniture isn’t cutting-edge contemporary, but everything works well and feels maintained. It’s the kind of place where you can tell the management actually cares about the guest experience rather than just maximizing profit margins. For the price point, you’re getting genuine value – not luxury, but solid comfort with people who know what they’re doing. I’d definitely stay here again, which is saying something since I usually like to try new places.

The concierge service in Krakow can arrange exclusive castle tours, secure classical concert tickets, and organize visits to nearby Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz Memorial.

  • Ruth from United Kingdom (8/10)

Very close to the Castle and Main Square, max 10 mins walk. Approx 25 min walk to the main station.

Our room and bathroom were very spacious. Could occasionally hear the water from the neighbouroling bedroom but not enough to ruin our stay. Room was nice and warm.

Good selection for breakfast, cheese, meats, fruit, yogurts, breads and local delicacies.

Martin the hotel manager was exceptional – very friendly with a lot of helpful local information.

    The area seemed very safe.

Would definitely stay in this traditional hotel on our next visit.

  • Robin from United Kingdom (7/10)

The location is excellent and only a 10 minute walk up to the square,
The hotel is old but clean and nicely presented,
The rooms are big with a limited mini bar but you do need to bring your own shower and bath products as what is provided in the room is extremely limited.
The breakfast is continental style but an excellent variety and more than adequate.
Our 3 room, 3 night stay was good.
The Christmas market was good but nowhere near as good as Wroclaw which we have done the last 2 years.
