Hotel Polonia Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel Polonia, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those assumptions bite you in the ass, because this little gem actually surprised me in all the right ways. The lobby has this old-school European charm that feels authentic rather than trying-hard, with worn leather chairs that have clearly seen their share of travelers and this subtle smell of coffee and old wood that just works.
The thing about Polonia is that it’s got character – I mean, real character, not the fake stuff hotels try to manufacture. My room was on the fourth floor (there’s an elevator, thank god, though it’s one of those tiny European ones where you’re basically hugging your suitcase). The floors creak a bit when you walk around, which some people might find annoying, but honestly it just added to the charm for me. What really sold me was the attention to small details – like, they actually had decent hangers in the closet, not those useless ones attached to the rod, and the shower pressure was surprisingly strong. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly too, which, let’s face it, can make or break a stay these days.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the staff genuinely seemed to give a damn. The woman at reception (I think her name was Anna?) remembered I was traveling for work and always asked how my meetings went when I’d come back in the evenings. That kind of personal touch is rare, especially at this price point. The breakfast room gets pretty busy around 8 AM, so if you’re not a morning person, either get there early or wait until after 9 when the business travelers clear out. And here’s a tip nobody tells you – they keep extra pastries behind the counter, so if something looks picked over, just ask. The coffee’s actually decent too, which shocked me because hotel coffee is usually terrible. Sure, the building’s got some age on it and you might hear your neighbors if they’re being loud, but that 8.5 rating isn’t just for show. Polonia delivers exactly what it promises – a solid, comfortable stay with people who actually care about making sure you have a good time.
Krakow’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Polish royal tradition and modern comfort, with many featuring historical tour services and authentic Polish hospitality.

Location is excellent right beside main station and old town. Hotel has an old Polish charm and is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet we thought was fabulous- yoghurt, fruit, cereal, breads, juice, tea and coffee, wide selection of cold meat, cheese and salads as well as hot choices and cakes/pastries, and all nicely presented. Staff were very pleasant and professional.

Excellent breakfast, the room was in the courtyard so no street noise. The hotel is most likely brick, so excellent sound insulation between the rooms. Polite staff. The very center of the city. Nearby all the city infrastructure. I recommend to visit.
