Hotel Description

You know what really caught me off guard about Hotel Secesja? The name actually means something here – it’s all about that Art Nouveau movement that swept through Krakow in the early 1900s, and honestly, they’ve done a pretty decent job weaving that theme throughout without going overboard. I mean, you’re not drowning in vintage wallpaper or anything, but there’s this subtle nod to the period that feels authentic rather than gimmicky. The location on Paulińska is honestly perfect – you’re tucked into Old Town but on one of those quieter side streets where you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling back from the bars at 2 AM (trust me, that matters when you’re trying to sleep).

What I really appreciate is how they’ve handled the whole historic building thing. Look, this is a 3-star place, so you’re not getting marble bathrooms or whatever, but the rooms feel thoughtfully put together. The ceilings are higher than you’d expect, which gives everything more breathing room, and the windows – well, if you get one facing the right direction, you’ll catch glimpses of the actual Old Town architecture between buildings. The staff genuinely seems to know their stuff about the neighborhood too. When I asked about getting to Kazimierz (the old Jewish quarter), the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he walked me outside and showed me the exact tram stop and which number to take. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to navigate a new city.

The whole area around Paulińska has this lived-in feel that I love – there’s a small grocery store about two minutes away where locals actually shop (not one of those tourist traps), and you’re close enough to walk to pretty much everything that matters in Old Town without being right in the chaos of the main square. During the day, you hear church bells from multiple directions, which sounds romantic but honestly becomes part of the background noise pretty quickly. The hotel itself runs pretty quietly – I never had issues with hallway noise or slamming doors, which can be hit-or-miss in these older buildings. Parking’s going to be your biggest headache if you’re driving, but that’s true anywhere in this part of Krakow. They’ll help you figure out the nearest options, though it’s definitely easier to just use public transport or walk everywhere. For what you’re paying and where you are, it hits that sweet spot of being comfortable without pretending to be something it’s not. The 8.2 rating makes sense – it’s solid, reliable, and the location really does most of the heavy lifting.

  • I really like and recommend this hotel – Vitaliia from Ukraine – March 14, 2025 (9/10)

The hotel was very nice, 24 hours check-in desk helped me, it was quite warm and clean in the room, I liked furniture. In the morning I could drink coffee, even when I missed breakfast. The place where I'd like to return.

What could be improved: Nothing bad I noticed.

  • Wonderful – Tsveti from Austria – January 2, 2025 (9/10)

The hotel room was very good – clean and quiet. And the hotel is 10 minutes walk from the old town.

  • Lovely staff, large rooms and a great location – Dawn from United Kingdom – September 12, 2024 (8/10)

    Location cleanliness

What could be improved: Shower wouldn’t work properly

  • I'd stay in this hotel again and recommend for single travellers or couples. – Lajos from United Kingdom – May 24, 2024 (8/10)

The location is perfect to visit Kraków. The hotel is in a quiet street, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the bed was okay. The breakfast was good enough; not luxury, but just right.

What could be improved: The shower was terrible. I couldn't put the soap and shampoo anywhere, only on the floor. The shower head didn't stay in the holder; I had to hold it all the time; therefore, I washed myself with one hand only. I felt like a one-handed person, who is fighting with the shower.

  • Good place to stay with super helpful staff. – Tymon from Poland – December 16, 2023 (9/10)

It’s located in the city centre, about 15 mins to the market square. Breakfast was very ok for me, everything was clean and tidy. Despite the location one might think it would be loud – nothing like that. You can rest and sleep with no problem. AC is working good.

  • Wonderful – Camila from Brazil – December 8, 2023 (9/10)

The staff was really kind and they anticipated my breakfast because I had a tour. The breakfast is good with many options.

What could be improved: The bathroom needed some repairs.

  • Clean, comfy and in the right spot-I would come back! 🙂 – Klaudia from Poland – September 19, 2023 (7/10)

-The location was very good, easy to get to the pubs and stores.
-The room was clean and tidy and the bed really comfy
-Lady behind the desk (the nightporter who checked us in) was very kind and lovely

What could be improved: I think there is probably nothing i would write in this section. I spent there only one night but, same as my partner I was very satisfied with the place and value of money. I would come back next time.
