Hotel Wawel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Wawel on Poselska Street, you immediately sense you’ve found something special. This three-star gem sits right in the heart of Krakow’s Old Town, and I mean really in the heart — you’re literally steps away from the main square and all the medieval charm that makes this city so captivating. The building itself has that understated Polish elegance that doesn’t try too hard, which honestly made me feel more at ease than some of the flashier places I’ve stayed.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying at Hotel Wawel — you can roll out of bed and be at the Cloth Hall in about three minutes. The location score of 9.8 isn’t just a number; it’s the real deal. Couples especially seem to get this (they rated it 9.8 for romantic trips), and I can see why. You’re close enough to everything that matters but tucked away on a quieter street, so you’re not dealing with the main tourist chaos right outside your window. The Wawel Castle is practically your neighbor, and those morning walks along the Vistula River? Pure magic, especially when the mist rolls off the water.
The Room Experience
The rooms at Hotel Wawel strike that perfect balance between comfort and character. Nothing overly fancy — this is a three-star property after all — but everything feels thoughtfully done. The beds are actually comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss that can be), and the bathrooms are modern enough without losing the building’s historic charm. What impressed me most was how quiet it stays at night, despite being so central. You get those lovely Old Town views from many rooms, and there’s something about waking up to those red-tiled roofs and church spires that never gets old.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast setup here is honestly better than I expected. They offer continental, vegetarian, and buffet options, which covers pretty much everyone’s needs. The spread includes local Polish touches alongside the usual European breakfast fare — I particularly enjoyed the fresh bread and local cheeses. It’s served in a cozy dining area that feels more like a neighborhood café than a hotel restaurant. You know what’s nice? The staff actually seems to care about the food quality, not just getting people fed and out the door.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9 rating, Hotel Wawel clearly does something right, and after staying there, I get it. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Krakow — it’s just being really good at what it does. The location alone makes it worth considering, but it’s the combination of being centrally located, reasonably priced, and genuinely welcoming that sets it apart. For couples exploring Krakow’s romantic side or anyone who wants to be in the thick of things without paying premium prices, this place delivers exactly what you need.

Reviews of Hotel Wawel
Graham from New Zealand (9/10)
We had a very spacious room on the top floor, which was very quiet. The location of the hotel was great, close enough to the main square but very peaceful. They kindly provided a breakfast/lunch box when we had to leave at 6.30am for a trip to Auschwitz. We also enjoyed the 24hr coffee in the Orangerie. Overall we loved Krakow and Hotel Wawel.

Hotel Wawel is in the perfect location. It is central and safe with easy access to the main square and surrounding restaurants and shops. Every staff member we met from arrival to departure was helpful and courteous. When I said that we were going on a full day excursion leaving at 5:45 breakfast/lunch was offered and then left for us to collect to bring with us. I didn't even ask – it was so generously offered. The Hotel Wawel was making sure that we were well fed and watered as the bags were full to the brim of healthy and nutritious food. Access to the hot chocolate maker was perfect befoge bed time! Our room was clean and comfortable! Thank you so much to everyone for ensuring that our stay was a great one.
