You know what struck me first about Hotel Wentzl? The lobby actually feels like someone’s elegant living room rather than that sterile hotel vibe you get in most places. I mean, this is a proper 4-star spot with a 9.2 rating, so you’d expect it to be nice, but there’s something genuinely welcoming here that goes beyond just fancy furniture. The staff remembers your name after day one – not in that forced, scripted way, but like they actually care about making your stay work.

The rooms are honestly better than I expected, and I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels. Everything’s well thought out, from the lighting (you can actually read without squinting) to the bathroom setup that doesn’t require a degree in engineering to figure out the shower. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even when the place is full. You’ll sleep well here without needing earplugs, which is saying something these days. The beds are that perfect firmness where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed. And here’s a small thing that matters – the Wi-Fi actually works consistently throughout the building, not just in the lobby like some places.

Location-wise, you’re positioned really well for exploring without being stuck in the middle of tourist chaos. It’s one of those spots where you can walk to the main attractions but still feel like you’re staying somewhere with character rather than just another hotel that happens to be nearby. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel where locals actually go about their business, so you get a better sense of the place you’re visiting. Parking isn’t a nightmare either – they’ve got it sorted, which honestly saves you a lot of headache if you’re driving. The whole experience just feels… effortless, I guess? Like they’ve figured out all the little things that usually go wrong at hotels and actually fixed them. It’s the kind of place where you’d genuinely want to come back, not just because it was adequate but because it felt right.

  The location is superb with a fantastic view of the square. The breakfast choice was very good. There was scrambled egg or omelette to order and sausages, hash browns and bacon on offer amongst a wider continental selection. Staff very helpful organising our transfers. Extremely good value for what you get for the hotel overall.

  Amazing location right on the square, and very handy for the attractions. The room was nicely decorated, and individual. Staff on front desk were helpful and attentive. We had an early trip to Auschwitz so missed breakfast, but were able to get a picnic bag, which had plenty of food for breakfast and lunch.
