You know what really surprised me about Jack Apartment? I was expecting another generic rental in one of those communist-era blocks scattered around Podgórze, but this place actually has character. The building on Romanowicza street looks pretty standard from the outside – honestly, I walked past it twice before finding the right entrance – but apartment 207 is a completely different story once you’re inside.

The host clearly gets what travelers actually need, not just what looks good in photos. There’s proper blackout curtains (thank god, because those summer sunrises in Krakow are brutal if you’re jet-lagged), and the kitchen isn’t just for show – it’s got real pots and pans, decent knives, even proper coffee that isn’t some instant nonsense. I mean, the whole setup feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental property. The wifi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to work remotely or just want to stream something after walking around the city all day. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Podgórze isn’t as touristy as the Old Town, so you’re not dealing with drunk groups stumbling around at 3am.

Location-wise, you’re about a fifteen-minute walk to the main square, but here’s the thing – that’s actually perfect. You get to cross the Vistula on foot, which gives you these amazing views of Wawel Castle that most people miss when they take trams or taxis. Plus, you’re right in the heart of what’s becoming Krakow’s coolest neighborhood. There’s this fantastic pierogi place about three blocks away that locals line up for (no English menu, but just point at what looks good), and the craft beer scene around here is honestly better than anything in the touristy center. The 9.4 rating makes total sense when you consider that most places either nail the location or the comfort, but rarely both. Jack Apartment manages to feel like a genuine local experience while still having all the amenities that make a trip actually relaxing – which, let’s be honest, is exactly what you want after spending your days navigating cobblestones and Gothic churches.
