You know what struck me first about Józefa 12? It’s tucked right into this cobblestone street that feels like stepping back centuries, but when you walk inside – honestly, it’s like someone took the best parts of old Kraków and mixed them with everything you actually want in 2024. The building itself has that gorgeous limestone facade that half the Old Town is famous for, and you’re literally a two-minute walk from the main square without dealing with all the tourist chaos right outside your window.

I mean, this is proper apartment-style living, not just hotel rooms with a kitchenette thrown in as an afterthought. The spaces feel like someone’s stylish friend lent you their place for the week – exposed brick walls, high ceilings with original details, but also things like proper coffee makers and washing machines that actually work well. The beds are honestly some of the most comfortable I’ve slept in (and I’m picky about that stuff), plus there’s enough room to spread out your things without living out of a suitcase the whole time. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Józefa street doesn’t get the late-night party crowds that some of the streets closer to the square deal with, so you can actually sleep with the windows open and just hear the occasional footsteps on cobblestones.

The location thing is sort of perfect though – you’re close enough that you can stumble back from dinner at Pod Aniołami or drinks at one of those cellar bars without calling an Uber, but far enough that you feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually live. There’s this great little bakery called Chleb i Wino about fifty meters down the street where you can grab proper Polish pastries for breakfast instead of paying hotel prices, and honestly, the walk to Wawel Castle takes maybe eight minutes through some of the prettiest streets in the city. Parking can be a bit tricky – I mean, it’s Old Town, so that’s expected – but they’ll sort you out with directions to spots that won’t cost you a fortune. The staff really knows their stuff too; they gave me restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist places, and when I had an issue with the heating (tiny thing, really), someone was up to fix it within like twenty minutes. The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s that sweet spot where you get the character and location you came to Kraków for, but everything just works the way it should.

  The location is at the heart of the cultural and artsy part of Krakow. It boasts a bustling nightlife. There is a patio right outside and many cool places just steps away.
