Hotel Description

Look, when I first walked up to Kanonicza 22, I honestly wasn’t prepared for what I was about to experience. The building itself sits on what’s arguably one of Krakow’s most atmospheric streets – you know, that cobblestone stretch that leads right up toward Wawel Castle. I mean, you’re literally staying on the same street where canons used to live centuries ago, which explains the name, and there’s something almost surreal about rolling your suitcase over those ancient stones.

The thing that struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to blend the historical weight of the place with genuine comfort – and I’m someone who usually gets suspicious when hotels try to pull off that whole “historic charm meets modern luxury” thing. But here, it actually works. The rooms have this warmth to them that you just don’t get in newer properties, with original architectural details that make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s carefully restored family home rather than a typical hotel. The 9.6 rating makes complete sense once you’re inside – the staff genuinely seems to care about getting the small things right, from the quality of the linens to making sure you understand the best times to visit the castle (early morning, by the way, before the tour groups descend).

What really got to me, though, was stepping outside in the evening. Kanonicza Street transforms after dark – the tourist crowds thin out, locals start appearing for their evening walks, and you get this incredible view of the illuminated castle walls. You’re close enough to hear the Hejnal trumpet call from St. Mary’s Basilica if the wind’s right, but far enough from the main square chaos that you can actually sleep without earplugs. During my stay, I’d grab coffee from the little place around the corner each morning and just sit on one of the benches nearby, watching the city wake up. There’s parking available too – not always a given in this part of the Old Town – though honestly, once you’re here, you won’t need a car for anything. The Planty gardens are right there for morning runs, the Jewish Quarter is an easy walk, and you can reach the main square in maybe five minutes on foot. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out.

Room was amazing – pics of the roof terrace don’t even start to do it justice…. Like something out of James Bond – turn the key, the roof cover winds back and there is the castle! Incredible

Everything was great, the people, the suite, the service, the restaurant. The hotel is located right next to the Wawel Castle (so what do you need more?!)😊 We chose the Royal Suite which still has the original ceiling and three frescoes. The suite is very big (I guess 100 sqm) and you have everything you need in it. The bathroom has both bathtube and a shower. Everyday they provide water (both sparkling and still) and coffee capsules (there is an espresso coffee machine in the suite). Everyone was very careful of what you need, but we would like to especially thank Marcelina (I hope I wrote her name well) who took care of our breakfast every morning and more.
