Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Krakow, and this apartment on Starowislna really surprised me. You know what struck me first? The address says Old Town, but you’re actually right on the edge where it bleeds into Kazimierz – which honestly is the sweet spot. You get that historic Krakow vibe without being stuck in the middle of tourist chaos, and you can walk to the Jewish quarter in maybe eight minutes.
The building itself is one of those beautifully restored townhouses that Krakow does so well. Starowislna is this tree-lined street that locals actually use to get around (not just tourists with their phones out), so you feel like you’re staying somewhere real. I mean, there’s a proper Polish bakery two doors down that opens at 6 AM, and the smell of fresh bread sort of drifts up in the mornings. The apartment – number 47 – is on an upper floor, which I was worried about with luggage, but honestly the climb is worth it for how quiet it gets at night. Street noise isn’t really an issue here, unlike some places closer to the main square where you’ll hear drunk tourists until 3 AM.
What makes this place work is the attention to detail without trying too hard. The furnishings feel chosen by someone who actually lives in apartments, not a hotel designer. Good lighting where you need it, proper blackout curtains, a kitchen that’s actually equipped if you want to grab groceries from the Żabka around the corner. The bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that doesn’t make you feel like you’re getting misted by a garden sprinkler – you know what I’m talking about. And here’s something you don’t always get in historic buildings: reliable wifi and heating that responds when you adjust it.
The neighborhood positioning is really what sells it though. You’re a fifteen-minute walk from the main square, but you’re also five minutes from Plac Wolnica in Kazimierz where the real restaurant scene is happening. There’s this wine bar called Alchemia just down the street that stays open late, and if you’re into the whole Schindler’s List history, you’re basically in the middle of it without staying in some themed tourist trap. Plus – and this matters if you’re renting a car – street parking is actually possible here, unlike deeper in the Old Town where you’ll circle for an hour.
I stayed here in October when the weather was getting crisp, and there’s something about walking back along the Vistula at night, seeing the castle lit up across the water, then turning onto your quiet street that just feels right. The 9.1 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, but it nails what you actually want: a comfortable base in a genuine part of the city where you can live like a local for a few days. Just don’t expect room service or a concierge, obviously. This is the kind of place you book when you want to experience Krakow rather than just visit it.

A toaster may be …Not a complaint but to make people aware I choose to make the bedsettee up as i didnt feel safe mounting the loft bed ladder. Its was comfy and easy to put away..Also i made the mistake of not checking for a lift .I was on 3rd floor and struggled with the suitcase..Otherwise perfect for a single traveller ..Exceptional – Patryk from Poland – July 15, 2024 (10/10)
