Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Krupnicza Modern Old Town Apartments? The location is honestly perfect – like, stupidly perfect. You’re literally on Krupnicza Street, which puts you right in the heart of Old Town but not on one of those crazy touristy streets where you can’t sleep because of drunk groups at 2 AM. I mean, you’ll still hear some street noise (it’s the center of Krakow, after all), but it’s more like the gentle hum of a living neighborhood rather than party chaos.
The apartments themselves are exactly what you’d hope for when you see “modern” in the name. They’ve done this really smart thing where they’ve kept some of the old character – you know, those thick walls and high ceilings that make you feel like you’re actually in a historic building – but everything else is properly updated. The kitchens actually work (shocking, I know), the wifi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the bathrooms look like they were renovated sometime this decade rather than the 1980s. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to make the spaces feel bigger than they probably are. There’s something about the way they’ve arranged things that doesn’t make you feel like you’re living in someone’s cramped spare room.
Location-wise, you’re about a three-minute walk to the Main Square – I timed it because I’m weird like that. But here’s the thing locals know: you can cut through some of the smaller streets and avoid the main tourist flow entirely. There’s this little bakery on Sławkowska (just around the corner) that opens early and has incredible obwarzanki – those Polish bagel things that are way better than they have any right to be. The Upstairs team actually knows their stuff about the neighborhood; they gave me recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots. Honestly, the 8.9 rating makes sense when you factor in that they seem to genuinely care about your experience rather than just checking you in and disappearing.
The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no standing around a lobby for twenty minutes while they “find your reservation.” Parking is… well, it’s Old Town, so don’t expect miracles, but there are options nearby if you really need to bring a car (though honestly, you won’t need one). The apartments get a bit of afternoon sun if you’re on the right side of the building, and in summer the stone walls actually help keep things cooler than you’d expect. I stayed during shoulder season and it was pretty quiet, but I imagine July and August might be busier with families doing the full Krakow experience. Overall, it’s one of those places where you can tell someone put actual thought into making it work for real travelers, not just Instagram photos.
Hotels near me in Krakow offer convenient access to the medieval center, where guests can easily walk to St. Mary’s Basilica, Cloth Hall, and traditional Polish restaurants.

Exceptional – Androula from Cyprus – July 21, 2025 (10/10)
Location and everything in the appartment was perfect
Great location, place is fine. – Dmitri from United States – July 19, 2025 (8/10)
Of all the places I have ever stayed (many hundreds across almost 100 countries), this was my favorite location. I just loved the street it was on and it's distance from the main touristy things. There are great shops, coffee, restaurants and a nice pedestrian street vibe.
What could be improved: The place itself is fine, if nothing amazing. There was a hair clog in the sink, which I notified them about. After they sent a plumber they attempted to bill me for it on Booking. After I pointed out that I'd told them, not caused it, they said sorry but then tried to bill me a second time. I think this was a mistake, but it's still lousy.ABeautiful Apartment. – Elizabeth from Norway – June 25, 2025 (9/10)
The apartment is big and clean. Centrally located near OldTown.
We like the spacious 4 bedrooms with sofas. Quiet place and near restaurants and small geoceries.
What could be improved: We missed kitchen towels and small trash cans in each room.
The second bathroom is small but it helps a lot when we were 10. No aircons but we did not need it yet in early June..Fantastic stay and would go back again in a heartbeat! ❤️ – Heather from United Kingdom – April 18, 2025 (9/10)
The property is in a fantastic location, 5 mins from the old square, yet on a nice quiet street. I am a very light sleeper and was not woken once from any noise by people or traffic.
The reason for our trip was for my Son’s 21st birthday and for a small cost, the staff arranged balloons, streamers, wine and a lovely birthday card for when we arrived, which was such a nice touch. It was great for my son to walk in and see all that especially for him.
It was very clean and comfortable. We never ate food in the apartment so didn’t need to use the kitchen but everything you would need is there! There is a lift which was such a relief after walking thousands of steps each day. Mr Pancake is 2 minutes away and served delicious pancakes. You can also get pizza and burgers there. Also 2 minutes away was a great bar called Sinatra’s, which had live music every night and a comprehensive list of drinks!
What could be improved: Was all good.Well equipped, cozy, centrally located apartment – Farhan from United Kingdom – February 23, 2025 (10/10)
The location of the apartment is very central, less than 10 minutes from old town square but very peaceful and quiet. We walked everywhere most of the time. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment number 10 on the 3rd floor. There’s a lift in the building too. The building itself is an old house with a character and a beautiful staircase. Inside the apartment everything is nice, cozy and modern with high ceilings and lots of space. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need. Bathroom has a good shower and heated towel rail. TV has Netflix and other apps set and available. The apartment was spotlessly clean, tidy and very warm. There was some tea, coffee and sugar available. There’s a washing machine, hair dryer and iron available for guests. Living room has a nice balcony facing inner courtyard.
Lots of cafes, bakeries, restaurants and takeaways in the area. Small Zabka shop for essentials opposite the building and slightly bigger Biedronka supermarket right by old town square.
Communication with the team managing the property was excellent and detailed instructions were sent how to access the property as we arrived late at night.Excellent – Yang from South Korea – January 8, 2025 (9/10)
Very kind staff and good location
Wonderful – Sabrina from Romania – January 4, 2025 (9/10)
The apartament was big enough for 2 adult and 2 children. The location was greate. Near to old Town, there are restaurants, coffes, market very close.
What could be improved: A stand for jackets and shoes would help the guests.A very nice city break in a perfect and cozy place! – Gabriel-ciprian from Romania – December 9, 2024 (10/10)
Communication with the host was very good. They answered almost instantly and always willing to help. The place is right in the city center on a quiet street, with lots of very good restaurants within reach (1 to 10 minutes walk max). Startbucks is at the ground floor of the building and also fastfoods like mcDonalds or Burger King are very close for those that want a quick bite. Shops for grocery is right across the street. A big and nice park at 4-5 minutes walk from the building. Basically you have anything you need right there! The place was clean, well maintained and we had anything we needed (we were travelling with our 5mo daughter).
What could be improved: There was a loud group of people partying and singing loud late in the night next to our apartmentin our second night. Nothing to do with the place or the host, but it was really annoying.Cozy and clean apartment – Jacqueline from United Kingdom – October 25, 2024 (9/10)
Apartment was clean, cozy and comfortable. Great location and with added bonus of a lift. Loved that we could access YouTube and Netflix. Apartment is in one of our favourite streets just 5 mins to main square. Good size apartment in a quiet building close to Starbucks,Mural Street Food market and Mr Pancake
What could be improved: Just minor things like no cleaning cloths and couldn't get vacuum cleaner working. Other than that all was fine except for uncomfortable pillowsExcellent stay at very good location. – Nancy from United States – October 23, 2024 (9/10)
Julia met us at the property, explained the security procedure to enter the building & apartment, was able to answer all our questions regarding local bakeries, use of stove & washing machine; she was excellent.
The apartment was spacious & other than a burned out bulb in one of the bedside lamps, everything worked.
Good location, easy walk to the Old Town and other attractions.
What could be improved: I was notified on WhatsApp that the original booked apartment with Upstairs was not available due to occupancy by a "long stay" & that another apartment was being offered. Before I even looked at the substitute apartment, Booking.com notifies me that I've accepted the apartment change(!) and could I verify that acceptance! I did eventually look at and accept the 2nd apartment, but am perturbed by how Upstairs management handled the situation. Also, I inquired about the presence of a washer, which the original apartment included, and it took 3 emails plus several days of exchange before someone verified there was one available in the 2nd apartment.
A minor note is that the property is very responsive to email requests/notifications and replacement of a couple items occurred in a day except for replacement of the burned out bulb in a bedside lamp (photos were included in the notification).
Please note it's an AirBnB property and different people replied to my emails.
