Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Kraków, and Kurkowa Apartments really surprised me – in the best way possible. When I first heard the address was in Grzegórzki, I’ll be honest, I had to look it up. It’s not one of those neighborhoods everyone talks about, but that’s actually what makes it brilliant. You’re literally a fifteen-minute walk from the main square, but you’re staying where actual Krakovians live, not in some tourist bubble where every other building is a souvenir shop.

The building itself sits on this quiet residential street – Kurkowa 5 – and you know what struck me immediately? How peaceful it was. I mean, you can still hear the occasional tram in the distance (there’s a stop on Mogilska Street that’s super handy), but none of that constant buzz you get staying right in the Old Town. The apartments themselves are proper apartments, not hotel rooms pretending to be homey. I’m talking full kitchens where you can actually cook, not just heat up instant noodles. The space feels lived-in but fresh – like someone’s stylish friend let you crash at their place. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward hovering around a tiny reception desk while other guests pile up behind you.

What really won me over was the neighborhood vibe, honestly. There’s this little bakery about three blocks down where the morning bread smell just hits you – locals queue up there every day around 7 AM, and now I know why. Plus you’ve got the Galeria Krakowska shopping center close enough for practical stuff (groceries, pharmacy, whatever you forgot to pack), but far enough that you’re not dealing with shopping mall crowds every time you step outside. The tram connections are actually better than a lot of central locations – you can get to Kazimierz in about ten minutes, or hop over to the train station without any transfers. I noticed families seem to love this place, probably because there’s real space to spread out and that playground tucked behind the building where kids can burn off energy. Even during peak summer season, the streets stay relatively calm here – you’ll sleep properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed closer to the action. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s one of those spots that just works without trying too hard to impress you.

  Very spacious well equipped apartments, very clean, instant hot water and great location with only a short walk into the main square. Very close to the main shopping mall, train and bus stations. The hosts were extremely helpful and gave us some great advice.

  Great location and price. It all the facilities we needed for a short break. We had both apartments as a larger group and it worked really well. Plenty of room for everyone but could also be together too in the kitchen if we wanted. Air con was a bonus we weren’t expecting.
  
  What could be improved: No blind in the bathroom and other apartments in the courtyard could see straight in. We had to put up a blanket at the window in order to maintain privacy.
