Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name – “Mieszkanie na Starym Podgórzu” – basically means “apartment in old Podgórze,” and honestly, that undersells it completely. I mean, technically it’s an apartment-style setup, but this 4-star spot on Legionów Józefa Piłsudskiego street has way more character than most hotels I’ve stayed in around Krakow.

The thing about Podgórze is that most tourists rush straight to the Main Square and miss this entire side of the city, which is actually a shame because you’re literally a quick walk across the Vistula from all the main action, but without the constant stream of tour groups outside your window at 7 AM. The street itself – Legionów Józefa Piłsudskiego – runs right through the heart of this historic district, and you’ll find yourself wandering past some genuinely interesting spots that didn’t make it into your guidebook. There’s this local bakery about two blocks down that opens ridiculously early, and the coffee actually doesn’t taste like it came from a tourist trap.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic apartment feel while still giving you proper hotel amenities. The spaces feel lived-in rather than sterile – think exposed brick, high ceilings, and furniture that looks like someone actually picked it out rather than ordering it from a hotel supply catalog. The 9.4 rating makes sense when you experience little details like actually decent water pressure (seriously, this matters more than people admit) and windows that properly block out street noise. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve ever tried to navigate Old Town Krakow with a rental car, you’ll appreciate. Check-in was refreshingly low-key – no massive lobby scene, just straightforward and personal.

I’ll be honest, the location took me a day to fully appreciate. At first, you might think you’re missing out on being right in the thick of things, but then you realize you can walk to Wawel Castle in about fifteen minutes, hit the Jewish Quarter just as easily, and actually get some sleep at night. Plus, Podgórze has its own vibe – it’s where locals actually live and work, so you’ll find yourself grabbing dinner at places where the menu isn’t translated into six languages. The tram connections are solid if you want to venture further out, but honestly, most of what you came to Krakow for is within walking distance anyway.

  Bardzo przestronne mieszkanie, świetnie wyposażone. W aneksie kuchennym było wszystko, co potrzebne. Bardzo dobra lokalizacja, blisko na Kazimierz i do centrum i równocześnie cisza i spokój. W mieszkaniu były gry planszowe, dodatkowo umilające wieczory 🙂 Bardzo życzliwi gospodarze, świetny kontakt. Zdecydowanie polecam, przy kolejnym pobycie w Krakowie na pewno z chęcią wrócimy!
