Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Mirror Apartments on Brzozowa Street, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The building itself is tucked into this quiet corner of Old Town that most tourists completely miss, which actually turned out to be one of its biggest selling points. You know how Krakow’s main square can get absolutely mobbed with tour groups? Well, you’re literally a three-minute walk from all that chaos, but when you turn onto Brzozowa, it’s like stepping into a different world. The street still has those beautiful old townhouses, but there’s this residential calm that lets you actually hear yourself think.
The apartments themselves – and I mean, they really are proper apartments, not just hotel rooms with a kitchenette shoved in the corner – have this interesting modern-meets-historic thing going on. The owners clearly put some thought into the renovations without going overboard with the whole “boutique” concept. My unit had these gorgeous original hardwood floors that creaked just enough to feel authentic, and honestly, the kitchen was better equipped than my actual kitchen at home. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because, well, the local bakery on the corner has incredible bread, and there’s this little market about two blocks down where you can grab proper Polish cheese and cold cuts. The Wi-Fi actually works everywhere (not always a given in these old buildings), and the water pressure in the shower was surprisingly decent – something I’ve learned not to take for granted in historic European cities.
What really won me over, though, was how the place felt lived-in rather than sterile. The woman at check-in – I think she might have been one of the owners – gave me this hand-drawn map with her favorite spots marked on it, including this wine bar on Grodzka Street that I never would have found otherwise. She also warned me about the church bells from St. Mary’s (you can hear them faintly in the mornings, but it’s actually kind of charming), and mentioned that parking can be tricky during summer weekends, though there’s a decent garage about five minutes away if you’re driving. The whole experience felt more like staying at a friend’s place than checking into a hotel, if that makes sense. Sure, it’s not going to win any luxury awards – the furnishings are practical rather than fancy, and the building’s entrance is pretty understated – but that 7.8 rating feels about right. It’s solid, comfortable, and perfectly positioned for actually experiencing Krakow like someone who lives there, rather than just checking attractions off a list.
Krakow hotels provide guests with luxurious accommodations in Poland’s cultural capital, known for its perfectly preserved medieval architecture and rich royal history.
