Okay, so here’s the thing about Modern Apartments II – first off, don’t let the slightly corporate name fool you, because this place is actually pretty fantastic. I mean, you’re literally on Szlak Street, which puts you right in the heart of Old Town where you can stumble to the Main Market Square in about three minutes (yes, I timed it). The building itself has that perfect balance of old Krakow character on the outside but completely modern everything once you step inside.
What really sold me on this place, honestly, was the underground parking situation. I know, I know – not the most glamorous detail – but if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near Krakow’s Old Town, you’ll understand why this is basically like striking gold. Most places around here either don’t have parking at all or charge you an arm and a leg for some sketchy spot three blocks away. Here? You just roll right into the garage and you’re done. Plus, the apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious – these aren’t those cramped European hotel rooms where you’re bumping into furniture every two steps. The kitchenettes are actually functional too, which comes in handy when you want to grab some pierogi from the market and heat them up instead of always eating out.
The location thing is pretty incredible once you start exploring. You’ve got Wawel Castle literally within walking distance, and I’m talking a pleasant stroll, not some grueling hike. The Jewish Quarter (Kazimierz) is close enough that you can wander over for dinner and drinks without needing taxis or anything. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you know how some Old Town spots can be absolutely chaotic with all the pub crawls and street noise? Well, Szlak Street manages to be central without being right in the middle of all that madness. You’ll hear the occasional tram rumbling by, but it’s more soothing than disruptive, honestly. The whole setup just works – you get that authentic Krakow experience without feeling like you’re staying in some tourist trap. The staff knows their stuff too, not in that overly rehearsed way, but like they actually live here and can tell you where to find the best zapiekanka or which milk bars are worth your time. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I’m driving, because that parking situation alone is worth its weight in złoty.

I have never slept in a more comfortable bed, I loved it! The whole accommodation was great.

What could be improved: typical modern construction – poor sound isolation and insulation from big windows – rooms were drafty and noise from the street was noticeable. heating very good and easily controlled, but with no AC it might get quite hot in the summer i would think. Spacious kitchen / dining area for two people , probably not so much for four. good appliances in kitchen and washroom including the dishwasher and laundry machine. more frequent maintenance checks suggested as bathroom sink was somewhat clogged up and water was coming out of the shower head rather randomly for no reason when not in use. overall though good value for money for someone looking for longer stay.Disappointing – Helen from United Kingdom – May 19, 2025 (4/10)
Parking and location.
What could be improved: This IS NOT a Two bedroom apartment. It is a One bedroom apartment, with a lounge, or a One bedroom apartment with a double bed in the lounge. I feel we were mis sold . I did receive a telephone call from a Polish gentleman whilst in krakow after my wife highlighted this issue, with him from the UK He started, the description was, "lost in translation ", and he had reported it to booking.com. A pair of 60+ men, on a short city break, not comfortable, I had the lounge, so any relaxing or conversation was limited to the small kitchen.
