Okay, so here’s the thing about this place on Rakowicka – it’s one of those finds that makes you feel slightly smug about your booking skills. I mean, when you first walk up to the building, you’re thinking “wait, this is it?” because honestly, the exterior is pretty unremarkable. But then you get inside this fourth-floor apartment and suddenly everything clicks.

The “next to train station” part isn’t marketing fluff – you’re literally a three-minute walk from Kraków Główny, which sounds like it would be awful noise-wise, but actually it’s fine. The windows are decent quality, and train stations in Poland aren’t like Penn Station or anything. What’s brilliant about the location though is that you’re technically in Old Town (that 31-511 postal code doesn’t lie), but you’re on the practical edge where real people live. You know what I mean? You’ve got that little Żabka convenience store right around the corner on Basztowa, and there’s this bakery – I think it’s called Piekarnia something – that opens stupidly early and smells incredible when you’re stumbling out for your morning coffee.

The apartment itself feels properly modern without being sterile. Someone actually thought about how people live – there’s counter space in the kitchen, the shower has good water pressure (trust me, this matters more than you think in older Polish buildings), and the bed is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling furniture all night. The WiFi works everywhere, which honestly surprised me because some of these converted apartments have dead zones that’ll drive you crazy if you’re trying to work. What really sold me was the little details – proper hangers in the closet, not those weird built-in ones that can’t hold anything heavier than a t-shirt, and enough outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and using the coffee maker.

Here’s the insider bit that makes this location genius: you’re close enough to walk to Market Square in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the drunk British stag parties at 2 AM. Plus, you’re positioned perfectly for day trips – I mean, the train connections are right there, but also if you’re driving anywhere, you can actually get out of the city center without losing your mind in Old Town’s maze of pedestrian zones and tram lines. Parking isn’t included, but there’s a paid lot nearby that’s way cheaper than anything closer to the main square.

The only minor thing – and I’m being picky here – is that the building entrance can be a bit confusing the first time, especially if you arrive after dark. It’s one of those buzzer systems where you need to know the exact apartment number, and the lighting in the stairwell is motion-activated but sort of sluggish. Not a dealbreaker, just something to keep in mind when you’re dragging luggage up four flights after a long travel day. But honestly, for the price point and that location, you’d be hard-pressed to find something better in Kraków.

  Beautiful apartment, has everything you need – from microwave to washing machine. Really close to the central station, I couldn't wish for more. It was really pleasant to drink coffee outside in a lovely garden, the bed was really comfortable and I even had an air conditioning for the hot days in Krakow

  The apartment itself is nice, fully equipped, and comfortable to stay in. Just about a 5-minute walk from the bus and train stations.

  We were told that some form of refund would be provided due to this, but it was never processed.
  There was also an unpleasant situation after we left. I realised we had forgotten a jacket in the apartment and contacted the host. They promised to check but never got back to me with any update…

  Znakomita lokalizacja, w samym centrum przy dworcu głównym. Wszędzie blisko, idealna baza wypadowa. Dodatkowo cicho i spokojnie, zamknięte osiedle. Bardzo dobry kontakt z właścicielem, nie było problemów z wcześniejszym aniżeli godz. zameldowania pozostawieniem bagażu w mieszkaniu. Mieszkanie czyste, posiada niezbędne udogodnienia. Na wypad we dwoje sprawdziło się idealnie. Polecam!
