Old Town Gateway Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Old Town Gateway, you immediately get that “this is going to be good” feeling. The building sits right in the heart of Krakow’s historic district, and honestly, the location alone makes this four-star hotel worth considering. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the main square — I could hear the horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping past in the early morning, which sounds touristy but actually becomes quite charming. The entrance has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests arrive.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying at Old Town Gateway — you can walk to pretty much everything that matters in Krakow without breaking a sweat. The Main Market Square is about a three-minute stroll, and you know what that means? You can pop back to your room between sightseeing sessions, which is honestly a game-changer when you’re doing the full tourist thing. The Cloth Hall, St. Mary’s Basilica, all those cobblestone streets you see in photos — they’re all right there. Plus, being on Mariana Langiewicza street puts you in this sweet spot where you’re central but not dealing with the noise of the main tourist drag all night long.
The Room Experience
The rooms strike that perfect balance between modern comfort and respecting the historic character of the building. Mine had these lovely high ceilings and windows that actually opened (you’d be surprised how rare that is these days), letting in just enough of that Old Town atmosphere. The bathroom was well-designed — not huge, but everything worked perfectly and the water pressure was solid. I particularly appreciated the blackout curtains, because summer mornings in Krakow start pretty early and sometimes you just want to sleep in after a night exploring the local bars.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings at Old Town Gateway feel relaxed in the best way. The breakfast setup gives you everything you need without being overwhelming — good coffee, fresh pastries, and enough variety to keep everyone happy. What I really noticed was how the hotel manages to feel busy but never chaotic, even during peak season. The common areas have this lived-in comfort that makes you want to linger with a book or plan your day. And here’s a practical tip — the staff actually knows the neighborhood well, so their restaurant recommendations are spot-on, not just the usual tourist traps.
Why Guests Love It
After spending several days here, I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something romantic about being able to wander out for dinner and stumble back through medieval streets to your comfortable room. The 8.3 rating makes perfect sense when you experience how everything just works smoothly. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Krakow, but it delivers exactly what you want: a great location, comfortable rooms, and that feeling that you’re really staying in the heart of this beautiful city rather than just visiting it.
Krakow hotels provide guests with luxurious accommodations in Poland’s cultural capital, known for its perfectly preserved medieval architecture and rich royal history.

Reviews of Old Town Gateway
Very Good – Vicky from Greece – August 13, 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Θα προτιμούσα να έχει κανονικό κρεβάτι και όχι καναπέ που γίνεται κρεβάτι, να ήταν τουλάχιστον ισόγειο και όχι ημιυπόγειο κάτι που δεν το έγραφε πουθενά με καλύτερο αερισμό.Exceptional – Kwiatkowski from Poland – August 3, 2025 (10/10)
