Old Town WAWEL II Premium Apartments Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Old Town WAWEL II Premium Apartments on Podzamcze Street, you immediately understand why this place gets such incredible location scores. I mean, you’re literally steps away from Wawel Castle — and I’m talking about a two-minute stroll, not some marketing exaggeration. The building itself has that classic Kraków charm, tucked right into the medieval streetscape where you can actually hear the castle bells chiming throughout the day. It’s one of those spots where you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special, even though it’s a three-star property.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is pretty much unbeatable if you want to be in the thick of things. You’re in Kraków’s Old Town, but on this quieter street that runs along the base of Wawel Hill — so you get the medieval atmosphere without the constant tourist crowds that plague the main square. The Vistula River is right there too, which means evening walks along the water become part of your daily routine. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to duck into local spots that tourists walking the main routes completely miss.
The Apartment Experience
Each apartment feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed place than a typical hotel room. The spaces are thoughtfully designed with modern touches that don’t clash with the historic setting — you know, contemporary furniture that actually works with those thick stone walls. The kitchen setup is genuinely useful, not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation, which comes in handy when you want to grab fresh bread from the morning market and have a proper breakfast. The windows in my unit looked out toward the castle grounds, and honestly, waking up to that view never got old.
Practical Considerations
One thing that surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, despite being so central. The street doesn’t get the late-night foot traffic that some other Old Town locations deal with, so you actually sleep well. Parking can be tricky in this part of the city — well, it’s tricky everywhere in Kraków’s center — but the staff knows the area and can point you toward the best options nearby. The building has been updated with modern conveniences while keeping its character intact, so you get reliable WiFi and proper heating without feeling like you’re in some sterile chain property.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is that perfect balance between location and livability. You’re close enough to walk to every major sight in the Old Town, but you’re also in a spot where you can experience Kraków like someone who actually lives here. The fact that couples rate the location so highly makes complete sense — there’s something romantic about having Wawel Castle as your neighbor, and the quieter evening streets are perfect for those after-dinner walks. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels like giving up a really good thing.

It was a great location near the castle and old town. One room was very comfortable but the other room was in fact a sofa bed. We thought it was going to be a proper bed. Nice touch leaving coffee and water.

Having travelled to Kraków for more than three decades, it was such a joy to discover this exceptional apartment so close to Wawel. Incredible value, comfortable, quirky, well appointed and amazingly convenient, with covered secure parking just metres away and all of historic Kraków just outside the main door. Safe, quiet and easy to access. The hosts were super helpful and very informative. Highly recommended!

The apartment is very clean, well equipped, interesting decoration. Location is perfect close to old town. It's located in the courtyard, however inside the apartment a separate bedroom is located on the upper level, and a separate with with curtain separation is located in the lower level.
