Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Krakow’s Old Town, and honestly? Most of them are either tourist traps with paper-thin walls or “boutique” spots that charge extra for everything. But Raj 3 on Rajska Street – well, this one actually gets it right. You know what struck me first? The building itself has this solid, pre-war feel that you can’t fake, and when you’re on the second floor, you get just enough distance from the street buzz without losing that authentic Old Town energy.
The thing about staying right on Rajska is that you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Main Square – I mean, you can hear the trumpeter from St. Mary’s if you open your window at noon – but you’re not dealing with the absolute chaos of staying directly on Floriańska or one of those main tourist drags. I actually loved this because you can stumble back from dinner at Pod Aniołami or drinks at one of the jazz clubs without navigating crowds, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. The apartment itself feels like someone’s well-loved home rather than a sterile hotel room, which honestly made such a difference after long days wandering the city. There’s this attention to detail – good coffee setup, actually comfortable furniture, windows that properly block out sound when you need sleep but open wide when you want to soak in the Old Town atmosphere.
What really sold me on this place (and why I’d definitely book it again) is how it strikes that perfect balance between location and livability. You’re not paying Main Square prices, but you’re close enough that you can pop back during the day if you need to – super helpful when you’re doing the Wieliczka Salt Mine day trip or heading out to Kazimierz for the evening. The neighborhood has this great mix too – there’s a fantastic little bakery just around the corner on Sławkowska that locals actually use, not just tourists, and you’re walking distance from both the fancy restaurants and the no-frills pierogi spots that students frequent. I mean, staying here just makes Krakow feel more manageable and less like you’re fighting the tourist machine every step of the way. Plus, and this might sound small but it’s not – the building is quiet at night, which in Old Town is honestly kind of a miracle.
