Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked up to Royal Castle Apartments on Krakowska Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in understated packages. This little gem sits right in the heart of Krakow’s Old Town, and I mean *right* in it – you’re literally a two-minute walk from the main square, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of tourist crowds outside your window at midnight.
The thing about staying on Krakowska is that you’re positioned perfectly between the action and actual rest. During the day, you’ll hear the gentle clip-clop of horse carriages heading toward Wawel Castle (which, by the way, you can practically see from some of the upper floor windows), but come evening, it settles into this lovely quiet hum that actually helps you sleep. The apartments themselves have this old-world charm that feels authentic rather than forced – I’m talking original hardwood floors that creak just right, high ceilings that make the rooms feel bigger than they are, and windows that frame the medieval streetscape like little postcards. The kitchenettes are surprisingly well-equipped too, which came in handy when I wanted to grab fresh bread from the bakery around the corner and have a proper breakfast before hitting the cobblestones.
What really won me over, though, was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their city. The woman at reception – I wish I remembered her name – didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. She actually sketched out a route to avoid the crowds at Cloth Hall and pointed me toward this tiny pierogi place on Grodzka Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The building itself has character – it’s one of those converted historical buildings where you feel the weight of centuries, but they’ve modernized it thoughtfully. Sure, the elevator is tiny (I mean, *really* tiny), and if you’re on the fourth floor, you might want to pack light, but there’s something charming about the narrow staircase and the way afternoon light filters through the old stained glass on each landing. The 8.4 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it delivers exactly what you want from a Krakow stay: authentic atmosphere, unbeatable location, and that feeling like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. If you’re the type who’d rather spend your money on amazing Polish food and maybe a day trip to Wieliczka Salt Mine instead of thread counts and marble bathrooms, this place gets it.

Reviews
Perfect location, you cannot find better location to stay! – Szabi from Hungary – May 28, 2025 (8/10)
Absolutely perfect location, close to tram stops and halfway between the Old town and Kazimierz. 0/24 shop in 50 meters, coffe shops, bakeries etc.
What could be improved: Due to the high traffic of trams it is very noisy but the windows are insulating effectively. Maybe in summer time sleeping with opened balcony door/windows is impossible. Do not forget to take ear plugs with you! 🙂 No microwave.Very good – Olena from Ukraine – May 26, 2025 (9/10)
Apartment like on photo. Very clean, comfortable bed. Not far is good place for breakfast and bus stop to airport. River is near and city centre too.
Clear instructions for self check-in and checkout.
We didn't use kitchenette, but it looks useful if U stay longer.
And the room is big with enough space.
What could be improved: A bit loud neighbours and trams, but if you tired – you don't care 🙂
There are water a bit stuck in a sink, but it's also just a small detailVery Good – Tanja from Slovenia – May 8, 2025 (8/10)
Practical location, small but comfy, clean.
What could be improved: Thin wallsIt was a pleasant stay. The location is great, and the host is very responsive. – Yuliia from United Kingdom – March 16, 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Strong smell in bathroom.
Wonderful – Niki from Greece – March 7, 2025 (9/10)
Very nice location, near the city center and various restaurants and bars. Very clean apartment. Warm and comfortable. I will prefer it for my next visit in Krakow!
What could be improved: It isn't quite soundproof.Perfect little space for short stay, great location and warm cosy feel. – Stuart from United Kingdom – February 4, 2025 (7/10)
Location, open space, clean, quiet which was a must, good kitchen facilities and warm. Bed was very comfy.
What could be improved: Awful smell from the drainage in bathroom, think it was shower drain, hot water went off 1 night which wasn’t good, not enough pillows on the bed and none stored in wardrobe to use,Brilliant stay, great location, comfy and clean – Megan from United Kingdom – December 30, 2024 (9/10)
Cute little apartment with a bunk bed style bed, super comfy and very clean! Perfect for what we needed!
What could be improved: The TV didn’t have any English channels and wouldn’t connect to internet so couldn’t watchWonderful – Katarína from Slovakia – December 22, 2024 (9/10)
Good location, equipment and very spacious. Very good heating
What could be improved: The bathroom smelled, but no big deal if you close the door.Comfortable bed and great location, but insufficient heating with only a small radiator. – Andrei from Romania – December 9, 2024 (7/10)
The bed was very comfortable, which made for restful nights. The location is also excellent—very close to the city center, making it easy to explore and access local attractions.
What could be improved: One major downside was the heating. There was no central heating, only a small radiator, which was insufficient for keeping the room warm, especially during colder nights. This made the stay less cozy than I had hoped.
If you’re visiting during warmer months or don’t mind layering up, this could be a great choice. But for colder seasons, I would recommend looking for a place with better heating options.A great place to stay if you want to enjoy the nightlife. – Luīze from Latvia – December 5, 2024 (8/10)
Clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: It was cold and the windows are out to the street which means it is very loud.
