You know what? I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Royal Smart Apartments,” I was expecting some overly fancy place trying too hard to impress. But actually walking into this spot in Krakow, it’s more like finding that perfect middle ground between a proper hotel and having your own little Polish apartment for a few days.

The thing about these apartments is they actually feel lived-in, in the best possible way. I mean, you’ve got real kitchens with decent-sized fridges (not those mini-bar things that can barely hold a water bottle), and the living spaces are set up like someone actually thought about how people move around a room. The beds are honestly pretty comfortable – I’m picky about mattresses and slept well here. What really caught my attention was how quiet it stays at night, which is saying something since you’re right in the heart of Krakow where things can get pretty lively, especially during summer when the city’s packed with tourists stumbling back from the Old Town. The soundproofing is surprisingly solid for a 3-star place.

Here’s the thing locals know but tourists often miss – this location puts you close enough to walk everywhere that matters, but far enough from the main square that you’re not dealing with the chaos of hen parties and tour groups at all hours. You can actually get to Wawel Castle without taking any transport, and there’s this little bakery about two blocks away that opens early and makes these incredible obwarzanek (basically Krakow’s answer to bagels) that’ll spoil you for breakfast anywhere else. The staff here genuinely knows the neighborhood – they pointed me toward a few spots I never would’ve found otherwise, including this tiny pierogi place that doesn’t even have a proper sign. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that bureaucratic nonsense you sometimes get at European hotels. They speak solid English, but honestly, they seem to appreciate it when you try a few Polish words. The apartments come with washing machines, which might sound boring but trust me, after a few days of walking Krakow’s cobblestone streets, being able to wash your clothes properly is a game-changer. The WiFi actually works well throughout the space, even in the bedrooms, and there’s enough electrical outlets that you’re not playing musical chairs with your devices. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, but sometimes what you want is a clean, comfortable base where you can spread out your stuff and feel like you’re living somewhere rather than just sleeping there.

  Well-equipped and clean room. Everything is tidy. The apartment itself is very good! Excellent value for the money.

  The owner was very punctual in providing suitable directions concerning our stay. The apartment was very close to new and kept in great condition. The wifi speed was phenomenal. About 20-25 minutes walk to main bus and train station.
