Royal university apartment, Wawel castle Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Royal university apartment, Wawel castle on plac Na Groblach, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But you know what? Sometimes the most intriguingly named places turn out to be the best finds. This three-star property sits right in the thick of Kraków’s Old Town, and I mean really in the heart of it — you can practically feel the medieval cobblestones humming with history beneath your feet. The building itself has that authentic Polish charm that you just can’t fake, with those classic European facades that make you want to snap photos before you even check in.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about location scores — a 9.7 sounds impressive, but what does that actually mean when you’re dragging your suitcase through unfamiliar streets? Well, in this case, it means you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Wawel Castle (hence the name, I suppose), and the Main Market Square is so close you’ll probably wander there accidentally while looking for coffee. I found myself constantly surprised by how central everything felt — the Cloth Hall, St. Mary’s Basilica, even those little side streets where locals grab their morning pastries. You’re not just staying near the action; you’re staying where the action happens.
The Apartment Experience
The apartment setup here is what really sets this place apart from your typical hotel room. You get actual living space to spread out, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re staying more than a night or two. The kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s functional enough that you can brew proper coffee in the morning or store those Polish pastries you’ll inevitably buy too many of. I appreciated having somewhere to actually unpack and settle in rather than living out of a suitcase — it makes the whole Kraków experience feel less rushed, more authentic somehow.
The Romantic Appeal
I can see why couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways. There’s something about having your own little Polish apartment in the Old Town that feels more intimate than a standard hotel room. You can open the windows in the morning, listen to the city waking up, maybe grab fresh bread from a nearby bakery and have breakfast at your own pace. The narrow streets outside have that fairy-tale quality that makes evening strolls feel like scenes from a movie — especially when the castle is lit up in the distance.
Why Guests Love It
That 8.8 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — no pretentious lobby or over-the-top amenities. Instead, it delivers exactly what you want from a Kraków stay: authentic atmosphere, unbeatable location, and enough space to actually live a bit like a local. The fact that you can walk to everything worth seeing while coming home to your own quiet corner of the Old Town? That’s the kind of travel experience that sticks with you long after you’ve left.

Reviews of Royal university apartment, Wawel castle
Barry from United States (9/10)
By far the best place we have stayed in Krakow after numerous trips spanning 20 years. Immaculately clean – and state of the art appliances. Though we didn't cook much, the utensils and cookware were extensive and very nice complete place settings – should you want to entertain. You could hear a pin drop at night; the neighborhood was so still. Adrian (host) was immediately reachable when needed, which was only to get in. Beautifully and tastefully appointed and great choice of reading materials in Polish and english – which we didn't have enough time to enjoy. It's only one flight up on a wide and easy navigable staircase (which the description didn't indicate). Around the corner from the castle and about 10 mins walk to the main square. There were only two of us friends traveling so there was plenty of room.

Great location. Quiet tree lined street. Nice outlook over the sports track. 2 minutes walk to the river, 5 minutes to Wawel castle entrance, supermarket. Nicely furnished and good kitchen. Very comfortable and nice place to stay
