Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Shalom Kazimierz? It’s actually tucked into this amazing corner where two streets meet – Józefa and Kupa – and you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking. I mean, that’s kind of perfect for Kazimierz though, right? The whole district has this way of hiding its best spots in plain sight. The building itself feels like it grew up with the neighborhood, and when you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about how to blend modern comfort with the area’s incredible history.
The location is honestly brilliant, and I don’t mean that in the usual “convenient to everything” way travel sites always say. What I mean is – you’re literally in the heart of Jewish quarter, surrounded by these narrow cobblestone streets that have stories carved into every corner. Szeroka Street with all its outdoor cafes is maybe a two-minute walk, and you can actually hear the buzz from the main square without being right in the middle of the tourist chaos. The synagogues are practically next door, which gives you this really authentic feel for what Kazimierz is all about. Plus (and this matters more than you’d think), you’re close enough to walk to Wawel Castle, but far enough that you’re not dealing with tour groups streaming past your window at 7 AM.
What really sold me on this place was how the staff seemed to actually know Krakow – not just the obvious tourist spots, but like, where to get the best zapiekanka at 11 PM or which direction to walk to avoid the weekend crowds in the main square. The rooms have this clean, modern vibe that works really well against those old building bones. Nothing too fancy or trying-too-hard, just comfortable and thoughtfully done. The bathrooms are actually spacious, which honestly surprised me given how these historic buildings usually work with space. One thing though – if you’re a super light sleeper, just know that Kazimierz comes alive at night, especially on weekends. It’s not rowdy exactly, but there’s definitely energy flowing through those streets, and you’ll hear people wandering between the bars and restaurants until pretty late. I actually loved falling asleep to the sound of distant conversations in multiple languages drifting up from the street, but worth mentioning if that’s not your thing.
The whole experience feels like you’re staying somewhere that locals would actually recommend, not just another hotel that happens to be in a cool area. With an 8.3 rating, it’s clearly hitting that sweet spot where everything works without being perfect – which honestly feels more genuine anyway. You’re getting real Kazimierz atmosphere without sacrificing comfort, and that’s harder to find than you’d think in this part of Krakow.

Reviews
Location and price amazing. A good experience! – Bianco from Portugal – July 17, 2025 (9/10)
Perfect location. Cheap. No staff but always avail quickly via WhatsApp. Would stay there again.
What could be improved: Shower was small.
No AC but wasn’t too uncomfortable at all.Wonderful – Ruth from United Kingdom – July 14, 2025 (9/10)
Balcony and street life..the location in heart of Jewish Kazimierz
What could be improved: The vast numbers of tourists in the afternoonIdeal and close to amenities. Comfy and well equipped. – Christopher from United Kingdom – June 22, 2025 (8/10)
The hotel was in a good location. It was quiet, clean and comfy. The facilities were good and the bathroom was well equipped. The breakfast was at the cafe below the hotel. That was nice and filling.
What could be improved: The room was warm and could have benefitted from air con in the warm weather I experienced when I stayed.Very Good – William from United Kingdom – May 24, 2025 (8/10)
Everything
What could be improved: Breakfast arrangements with FINCA cafe on ground floor are by using a voucher issued by the hotel.
Menu is basically a permutation of eggs various ways/ bacon/ sausages etc and a coffee / tea of choice. On the price list for NON voucher holders, all the coffees/ teas are marked as 15-18 ZL. Orange juice about the same
Upon asking for an orange juice instead of coffee I was asked to pay 18 ZL EXTRA.!!
A bit of a rip off first thing in the morning.I enjoyed the stay. Perfect balance of price and quality – Mykhailo from Denmark – May 20, 2025 (8/10)
The hotel is situated in the central part of the Old Town, just a short way from the synagogue. It was spotlessly clean and very well organized. I arrived and was able to check in immediately, thanks to the electronic locks — perfect for late arrivals or anyone who doesn’t enjoy lengthy reception formalities. During my three-day sta,y I didn’t see a single staff member, which actually pleased me. The hotel is cozy and immaculate, and it suited my visit perfectly.
What could be improved: It would be great to have a wall-mounted dispenser with shampoo and shower gel—the single-use sachets weren’t very convenient.Excellent location, stylish, clean and comfortable – Anonymous from United Kingdom – April 19, 2025 (8/10)
Great location, spacious room on top floor, free bottles of mineral water every day, fridge, very clean and very comfortable bed.
What could be improved: Someone would have gained access to room if we hadn't been in and manually locked door – new guests had been given both our room number and code to our door. This woke us up aftet midnight and I had to open door to explain this wasn't their room. Messaged hotel via WhatsApp and they immediately replied and were very apologetic but the fact remains that if we had been out the new guests would have got into our room.Fantastic value fof money, balcony room was clean and larger than expected – Robert from United Kingdom – April 8, 2025 (9/10)
Location for all city tourism, but quiet and comfortable
What could be improved: NothingWould gladly return. – Jason from United Kingdom – February 22, 2025 (9/10)
Clean. Great location. Responsive reception.
What could be improved: Breakfast was good but offer restricted to set menu.
Odd that tea and coffee making facilities are in room but there is no milk?Very Good – Karlos from Spain – December 24, 2024 (8/10)
Location and nice place to stay.
There was water and coffee in the room, all very clean.
What could be improved: Lack of reception (just a WhatsApp number) and the old mattress.
OExcellent – Sonya from United Kingdom – October 14, 2024 (9/10)
Good location. Staff very helpful and attentive
What could be improved: We were on the third floor. No lift which was ok for us but people with mobility issues may find it difficult
