Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Sleeping in Krakow Main Market? The name isn’t just marketing fluff – you’re literally sleeping right on top of one of Europe’s most gorgeous squares. I mean, the address is Sławkowska 4, which puts you maybe thirty seconds from the Cloth Hall if you’re walking slowly. When I say you’re in the heart of Old Town, I’m talking about the actual beating heart, not some “historic district adjacent” situation.

The thing about staying this close to Rynek Główny is that mornings are magic, but you’ve got to embrace the fact that evenings get lively. Honestly though, the windows are solid enough that the street musicians and late-night revelers don’t really penetrate – I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it actually gets inside. The building itself has that classic Krakow vibe where you’re walking up old stairs (character, not convenience), but once you’re in your room, everything feels properly modern. The bathrooms are actually quite nice – good water pressure, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to get that most guests are here for the location but still want genuine comfort. They’ve managed to strike this balance where you feel like you’re staying in authentic old Krakow without sacrificing the stuff that matters – decent wifi, good heating (crucial if you’re visiting in shoulder season), and beds that don’t feel like medieval torture devices. The breakfast situation is solid too, though honestly, with places like Café Camelot just around the corner on Św. Tomasza, you might find yourself wandering out to explore anyway.

Here’s something locals won’t tell you but you’ll figure out fast – staying right on Sławkowska means you can duck back to your room between the morning crowd at St. Mary’s Basilica and the afternoon rush. That midday break becomes precious when you’re doing the full Krakow tourist circuit. Plus, if you’re planning day trips to Wieliczka or Auschwitz, most tour pickups happen right from the main square, so you’re literally rolling out of bed and onto the bus.

The only minor thing I’d mention – and this is pretty standard for Old Town – is that getting a taxi or Uber right to the door can be a bit of a dance because of the pedestrian areas. But honestly, that’s part of the charm of staying in the medieval center rather than some modern hotel district. You’re trading a bit of convenience for the kind of location where you can stumble out at sunrise and have the entire Main Market Square basically to yourself for photos.

With a rating pushing 9 out of 10, it’s clear other travelers are figuring out what makes this place special. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Krakow – it’s just nailing the fundamentals while putting you exactly where you want to be. Sometimes that’s honestly better than all the marble lobbies in the world.

The concierge service in Krakow can arrange exclusive castle tours, secure classical concert tickets, and organize visits to nearby Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz Memorial.

Perfect location, nice , helpful and friendly host, comfortable beds, everything clean and well equipped, you can feel like home.elevator would be a plus.

  • Exceptional – Laura from Netherlands – July 25, 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful apartment with a high ceiling and large windows. The location just around the corner of the main square make it perfect for exploring. The apartment had everything you need when traveling with a family. From a well equipped kitchen to a washing machine and toys for the kids. We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay!

What could be improved: Just be aware that it's on the second floor with no elevator. For us it was not a problem, but you need to be able to carry your luggage up the stairs.

  • Amazing property – Ekaterina from Bulgaria – July 17, 2025 (10/10)

  • Family stay – Lucas from United States – July 7, 2025 (8/10)

The apartment had many great features. The rooms were very spacious, and the place was well-equipped with everything we needed. The location was excellent – just a 2-minute walk from the main square, which made it very convenient for sightseeing. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a huge plus during the hot days.

What could be improved: Unfortunately, our stay at the apartment was not as peaceful as we had hoped. Although the apartment itself was fine, the location made it very difficult to get a good night's sleep. There is a pub and a bar right next to the building, and every night we were woken up by loud people outside – talking, shouting, or even singing until late hours. The noise made the nights really tough and tiring. If you're a light sleeper or traveling with children, I would not recommend this place.
Additionally, the apartment is located on an upper floor with no elevator. There are about 45 stairs to climb, which can be challenging, especially with heavy luggage or for people with mobility issues.
