You know what caught me off guard about Small Market Square? It’s one of those places that doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once you’re inside, you get it. The location is honestly perfect if you want to be right in the thick of Old Town without paying those crazy boutique hotel prices. I mean, we’re talking about a 3-star place with an 8.4 rating – that doesn’t happen by accident.

The thing about staying here is you’re literally steps away from all the cobblestone action, but somehow the rooms stay surprisingly quiet at night. I was expecting to hear every tourist stumbling back from dinner, but the windows must be better than they look. The whole setup feels like someone converted an old merchant’s building (which it probably was, given the location) and actually thought about what travelers need. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Old Town, after all – but they’re laid out smart, with enough space for your luggage without tripping over it every five minutes. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that “let me show you seventeen amenities you’ll never use” nonsense.

What really sold me on this place was walking out the front door and immediately knowing where I was. You’re not stuck in some anonymous hotel district trying to figure out which way leads to the actual city center – you’re already there. The market square itself comes alive early in the morning with local vendors (honestly, the coffee from the corner stand beats most hotel lobbies), and by evening it transforms into this perfect people-watching spot. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood well; they gave me directions using landmarks I’d never heard of but could spot immediately once I was out walking around. It’s that kind of local knowledge you can’t fake. The whole experience felt less like staying at a hotel and more like crashing at a friend’s place who happens to live in the absolute best part of town – which, when you think about it, is exactly what you want from a place like this.
