Spatz Aparthotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Spatz Aparthotel on Miodowa Street, you immediately know you’ve hit the jackpot location-wise. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Main Market Square — I could hear the horse-drawn carriages clopping by from my window. The building itself has that classic Krakow charm, tucked right into the medieval streetscape of Old Town. It’s not trying to be flashy or modern, which honestly works perfectly here because anything too contemporary would feel completely out of place.

Location & Neighborhood

This three-star property sits in what locals call the real heart of Krakow, and they’re not exaggerating. You can walk to St. Mary’s Basilica in about two minutes, and the Cloth Hall is practically around the corner. What I loved most was being able to duck back to the hotel between sightseeing without dealing with trams or taxis — everything’s just right there. The street itself is quieter than some of the main tourist drags, but you’re still close enough to stumble back from the bars in Kazimierz without breaking a sweat. Couples especially seem to get this location (they rate it 9.0 apparently), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about having medieval Krakow as your backyard.

The Aparthotel Experience

Since it’s an aparthotel, you get more space than your typical hotel room, which is actually pretty nice when you’re spending several days exploring the city. The rooms have that practical European vibe — clean, functional, with enough character to remind you where you are. Don’t expect upscale finishes or anything fancy, but honestly, when you’re paying three-star prices in this location, you’re getting incredible value. The staff knows their stuff about the area too, which makes a difference when you need restaurant recommendations or want to avoid the tourist traps.

Breakfast Spread

The breakfast situation here is surprisingly comprehensive for a place this size. They’ve got the full Continental setup, but what caught me off guard was how they accommodate different dietary needs — vegetarian, vegan, even gluten-free options alongside the traditional Full English. The Italian touches were a nice surprise too. It’s buffet-style, so you can fuel up properly before tackling Wawel Castle or wandering through the Jewish Quarter. Nothing groundbreaking, but solid and filling, which is exactly what you want before a day of walking on cobblestones.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Spatz Aparthotel isn’t going to win any design awards, but it absolutely nails what most travelers actually care about — location, value, and getting the basics right. When you can roll out of bed and be at the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful old towns in minutes, a lot of other things become less important. The fact that it consistently gets high ratings tells you everything — people come here, realize they’ve found a gem, and leave happy. For the price point and that unbeatable Old Town address, it’s honestly hard to argue with the choice.

To book a hotel in Krakow during peak medieval festival season, travelers need early planning as this historic capital draws visitors eager to experience its UNESCO World Heritage old town and royal heritage.

  • Hawkins from United Kingdom (8/10)

The room was very nice. Great shower and hairdryer. Nice restaurant across the road. It snowed, and as we are a bit older it would have been less frightening for us if you cleared some from the front of the hotel as it was extremely slippy. But all in all the Hotel was great and so was the breakfast.
