There’s this little path that cuts through to Szeroka Street where the locals actually hang out, and honestly, some of the best pierogi I’ve had in Krakow is at this tiny place just around the corner that most visitors never find. Plus – and this matters if you’re planning to explore – you can walk to Wawel Castle in about ten minutes, but you’re far enough from the main square that you won’t hear the horse carriages clattering around at 6 AM.

What really won me over though was how Susan (yeah, there’s actually a Susan, and she’s fantastic) has thought about the practical stuff. The apartment feels spacious in a way that’s rare for Old Town – I could actually spread out my things without living out of a suitcase. The kitchen setup is genuinely useful if you want to grab some fresh bread from the market and make coffee in the morning, and the WiFi actually works properly, which… well, you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in these historic buildings. The whole place has this warm, lived-in feeling – like someone took care to make it comfortable rather than just Instagram-pretty. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and while some places feel a bit cold and empty when it’s not peak summer, this felt cozy. The heating worked great, the hot water was consistent, and honestly, after long days walking around the city, I actually looked forward to coming back rather than just crashing wherever. It’s the kind of place where that 9 rating makes total sense – not because everything is perfect or fancy, but because it just works really well for what you actually need when you’re exploring Krakow.
