Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Tyzenhauz Apartments” I thought it might be one of those sterile corporate places, but this spot on Dietla Street actually surprised me. You’re basically living like a local in Old Town, which is pretty rare these days since most of the authentic places have been turned into tourist traps. The building itself has this understated elegance – not flashy, but you can tell someone cares about the details.
What really got me was the location. I mean, you’re on Dietla which runs parallel to the Vistula, so you’ve got this perfect balance where you’re close enough to walk to Market Square in about ten minutes, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the late-night stag party chaos. The street actually has character – there’s this little bakery two doors down where the owner still comes out at 6 AM to arrange the bread display, and you’ll hear the trams rumbling by (honestly, I found the sound kind of soothing after the first night).
Here’s what I appreciated: these aren’t just hotel rooms with a kitchenette thrown in. The apartments feel like someone actually lives there – or could live there comfortably. The kitchen setups are legit, not those joke mini-fridges and hot plates you usually get. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because, well, the local markets are incredible and it felt natural to bring back some oscypek cheese and fresh bread. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout (I work remotely, so this matters), and the heating – crucial in Krakow winters – actually worked properly without making those weird clanking sounds that keep you up.
You know what struck me most? The staff seem to get that people staying here aren’t just checking boxes on a tourist itinerary. When I asked about getting to the Jewish Quarter, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward Kazimierz’s main tourist strip – he mentioned this tiny bookshop on Józefa Street that most people walk right past, and honestly, it ended up being a highlight. That kind of local insight makes a difference.
The whole area comes alive differently depending on when you’re there. Early morning, it’s all about locals heading to work and school kids on their way to classes. Evenings, especially on weekends, you get this nice energy as people head out for dinner, but it’s not overwhelming. And if you’re here during summer, the proximity to the river means you can walk down to the water when the city gets too warm – something I didn’t realize until my third day.
I stayed for almost two weeks, and by the end I genuinely felt like I was leaving a temporary home rather than checking out of a hotel. That 8.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does really well. If you want to experience Krakow without feeling like you’re constantly surrounded by tour groups and overpriced restaurants, this is your spot.

Great apartment, highly recommended! – Emathinger from Austria – August 10, 2025 (9/10)
Quiet yet still close to the relevant attractions and restaurants
Feel comfortable during the stay – Chung from Taiwan – July 26, 2025 (9/10)
Very clean, great location, many restaurants nearby
In general very nice stay for us. – Anna from Spain – July 9, 2025 (9/10)
Super clean , and location was perfect. Walking distance to all attractions.
What could be improved: Being a top floor apartment in warm days it became too warm, there is an AC unit , but if you don’t like using it , it’s a bit of a problem.Great apartment for a family, it had everything we needed and within walking distance of attractions – Jennifer from Ireland – October 7, 2024 (9/10)
The location was great, with lots of attractions within walking distance. Great size apartment for a family, 2 seperate bedrooms.
Charming apartment in an elegant building, though the hosts were somewhat impersonal. – Sylvia from United States – July 1, 2024 (9/10)
Great location and great apartment. Nicely renovated and good layout for friends/family. Air conditioning units kept the attic apartment cool during the hottest days. The building is beautiful with hand-painted murals along the stairwells.
What could be improved: I arrived to find only one pillow per guest. (Photos show two)
The second bed just had a new sheet on the mattress, and the rest of the bedding was folded up for guest to make themselves. Doing barely the minimum for guests.
Meanwhile, I asked for an earlier check-in far in advance (4:00pm is late) and was denied, while at check-out the cleaners were there on the dot.I would definitely come again! – Hanna from Finland – April 24, 2024 (9/10)
The apartment fully corresponded to the description on Booking.com. I traveled together with my mother, and having our own bedrooms for each of us was one of the reasons for choosing this apartment. It was easy to get from the main train station with one tram directly in front of the apartment door, and all the places we needed were within walking distance.
The communication with the staff at the accommodation was excellent, and I got answers to questions I sent them through the Booking.com app very quickly. The arrival instructions were clear and everything went great.
What could be improved: The apartment is located along one of the big main streets, and especially the sounds of emergency vehicles could be heard quite clearly inside. Also from behind the wall from the neighboring apartment there was sometimes a somewhat exotic sound world, but despite these I wouldn't complain about anything.Perfect for short stays – Callum from United Kingdom – March 9, 2024 (8/10)
Heated bathroom floor
What could be improved: Only 1 pillow allocated per guest. Would prefer 2 eachGood – Stuart from United Kingdom – April 16, 2024 (7/10)
It was a good location and it was good that you could do your own washing at the property.
The rooms were good in size and you had everything you needed there.
What could be improved: Unfortunately my bed sheets where not Cleen.
And there was a few things at the property that were broken.Wonderful – Laura from Italy – August 1, 2025 (9/10)
Appartamento molto accogliente, nuovo, comodo e in ottima posizione
Short but sweet Krakow visit – Fabiola from United Kingdom – July 20, 2025 (9/10)
La ubicación es excelente para explorar la ciudad a pie. El piso está muy bien equipado, con muchos utensilios de cocina (y cafetera y café! Que agradecimos mucho) y es muy cómodo para una estancia en grupo.
What could be improved: Todo estupendo, la verdad
