Tyzenhauz Apartments Pawia Street Overview

You know what? I almost walked right past Tyzenhauz Apartments on Pawia Street the first time I was looking for it. It’s tucked into this slightly industrial-feeling stretch that honestly doesn’t scream “vacation rental” at first glance, but man – sometimes the best places hide in plain sight. This whole area is actually pretty fascinating once you start wandering around, with all these converted buildings that used to be something completely different.

The thing about these apartments is they get the fundamentals really, really right. I mean, when you see a 9.4 rating, you sort of expect there to be a catch somewhere, but I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and it just… didn’t. The space I stayed in had this lived-in quality that felt authentic – not like someone decorated it from a hotel supply catalog, you know? The kitchen actually had proper knives (travelers will understand why this matters), and there were these little touches that made it clear someone who actually lives in apartments furnished this place. The wifi was solid throughout, which is honestly half the battle these days.

What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, especially considering you’re right in the city. Pawia Street itself can get a bit busy during the day with local traffic, but once evening hits, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The whole neighborhood has this residential feel that most tourists never see – you’ll find yourself walking past actual grocery stores where locals shop, not just the overpriced convenience spots near tourist areas. There’s this little café about two blocks down that I stumbled into one morning, and I swear I was the only non-Polish speaker in there. Those are the moments that make a trip, honestly.

Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward lobby hovering while they “prepare your room.” The person managing the property clearly knows what they’re doing and actually seemed to care about whether guests were comfortable. I appreciated that they didn’t oversell the place or make promises they couldn’t keep. It’s a solid three-star setup that delivers exactly what it advertises, which is rarer than it should be. The beds are comfortable (not too soft, not like sleeping on a board), and the water pressure is definitely adequate for a proper shower after walking around all day. Sometimes it’s the simple things that matter most when you’re trying to recharge for another day of exploring.

Great location just opposite the main station and a 5 mins walk to the Barbican gate to the old town. Quiet due to it facing the inner courtyard. Staff really responsive and helpful.

Clean and modern design inside apartment. Great location ( just 2 minutes walk from the shopping mall and train station). Good and quick communication with owner.

  • Yiu from Hong Kong (8/10)

The location is excellent ONLY around 7 mins to Station. But the main door is very hard to find It is located in the very old building and there is only a signage of a hostel outside the building ( the upper level is a hostel). Inside the apartment is fully renovated which is nice however as other guests commented there is a smell not sure it is from the sewage or the drain from bathroom. U can really smell it once u step in living room. Apart from the overall is good Bed and linen are very soft and comfy.
